Baby Names

Glenn Rourke

Glenn Rourke is my new name crush. Glenn is my granpdas name and it means "from the wooded valley." I love the way it sounds and of course love my grandpa and he would be so over the moon if I named the baby after him. Rourke is an alternative spelling of Roark and it means "illustrious and mighty."

Opinions? and what do you think of Rourke as a first name? Does Glenn sound too "old?" That definitely wont be a concern when hes older obviously lol but is it too adult sounding for a child? I also like the fact that a nn isnt really possible with Glenn although I'm sure he will get one some how.

Re: Glenn Rourke

  • I actually really like Glenn! I find it refreshing. A bit nerdy, but totally adorable on a little dude.
  • Dexter is my other option also a bit nerdy lol

  • Rourke reminds me of JD Robb books and Glenn is a creepy name. The only Glenn's that I know are creeps. The two names do not go well together IMO.

I only know one so thankfully I don't have any bad associations with the name.. I'm struggling with bad associations because I'm a preschool teacher and have worked in childcare for so many years lol.

I was concerned about the names going together/flow since they're both only one syllable :/
  • I like Glenn and because it's after your grandfather I think it's wonderful. Rourke I would toss.

Don't like Rourke for a fn, it's ok in the mn spot, but still not my style at all.

Glenn Rourke is ok, Glenn does seem a little old and dated to me but it's ok. I really like Dexter Rourke though, I prefer it to Glenn. Another option or idea....Dexter Glenn
  • I extremely dislike Rourke and Glenn sounds like an old man.

  • Dexter Glenn is on my list also! Just exploring different options as my last name ends in -er and since me and my BF havent been together very long I am not 100% sure on which last name the baby will have.
  • Not sure if you watch Walking Dead but there's a young character named Glenn on there.. That alone helps me view Glenn as less of an "old man name" haha. But truthfully, once a baby has a name it kind of adapts to them and those connotations go away. I knew a lady that was planning to name her kid this awful grandpa name (WAY worse than Glenn) and we all laughed about it.. But once the baby came it didn't seem so weird, it was just him.
  • I much prefer Dexter, but could be because both Glenn's I know are just the worst.
  • I like it. I know a really nice Glenn. Glenn Rourke has a slightly Celtic vibe to me, but it's not a bad thing!
  • I like Glenn.
  • I love Glenn! It's an awesome name.

  • Older names are making a comeback. I grew up with a Glenn and he was awesome. As for the mm I'm not sure I can give an opinion on it because I am not sure if I'm pronouncing it correctly.
