Pregnant after 35

Things I can't watch

I just saw a man cut shark pups out of their dead mama shark... And now I'm bawling. I also can't watch anything about children being mistreated without having a meltdown. Are you experiencing the same feelings?

Re: Things I can't watch

  • I read a news article about the man whose wife divorced him for wanting to keep their baby with Down's Syndrome. I balled my eyes out.

  • I have been very emotional lately, for me I think it is because I am getting close to the end. This just started for me the last couple of weeks. I just see babies and get all teary eyed! Plus this will probably be my last baby, so I know that is adding to it.

I saw that!!!  As a special ed teacher and a FTM, it made me more angry than anything else.

Yes - I was angry at the mom. I went to the dad's fundraising page and saw that he raised 6x what he was asking. Then I started reading all the comments. Then I started crying.

  • mattandlora  I just read that article on FB.  Annoyed me to no end. What is wrong with people??  Then my manager tells me today about a story she read about parents whose 6 yr old son was more friendly with strangers than they wanted him to be and they were concerned about stranger danger. So basically, they fake an abduction.. throw this poor kid in a van with someone he doesn't know.. take him back to his own house.. put him in the basement.. threaten him with a firearm.. pull his pants down.. and then tell him it's all fake.  Seriously???  Clearly, they are facing charges because they're insane!

I don't get it. I see couples ALL the time struggling for just one chance to be parents and then you see idiots like this who just seem to have no issues having them.  It's so frustrating.

Ever since we lost our baby in 2011, I cannot watch anything that involves the mistreatment of children. Abductions, child abuse.. any of that stuff. It just bothers me so much.  I'm a little more grounded than I was just after we had our loss but for a long while I just had heightened fears about that kind of thing and I had to just stop watching those things altogether.

    People are nuts these days!

  • yep...I remember during one of my pregnancies I had a huge fight with my husband because I was in the room and he was watching Dr. Phil.  The story line was about a little girl who was just horribly abused in every form possible.  They were giving details and it was just so sick.  I asked my husband over and over to turn it off.  He refused.  I was crying my eyes out and horrified over the whole thing.  I ended up asking my husband what sort of moron would WANT to sit there are listen to all this horrific information when they didn't have to.  He was most upset to be called a moron!!!  lol
  • @niknak1208, @cneiding - Unfortunately the abuse thing is a little too close to home for us right now. We've been helping some people (a mother and child) with an abusive situation for the duration of the pregnancy. We're helping them navigate legal, financial, medical, mental health, etc. DH and I think that is the major contributor to my blood pressure problems. But without us, they have no one, and are at high risk of returning.
