Just for fun...

Just waiting on my little man to make an appearance and I wanted to find a way to kill some time.

What kinds of foods did you crave when you were pregnant? Weird ones, normal ones, things you had previously hated? And was there a food you probably could have lived on during pregnancy? How about aversions?

Re: Just for fun...

  • For me, I never really had any crazy cravings. At least, nothing that sent me or my husband dashing to the store. However, there are a few foods I could totally live on. Avocados, potatoes in almost any form (although fries are a favorite), and little Debbie snack cakes.

I could eat almost anything I ate before pregnancy with one major exception: chicken. Meat in general was touch and go for the better part of my time with baby, but I only attempted chicken twice. Made an alternative both times.

  • The only thing I have craved food/drink wise is ice. I could eat ice all day long (and do).

I have been craving certain smells though. Some of them I hated before like Tea Tree oil. I use tea tree face wash and sometimes I just sit there and breathe it in while it is on my face. I was also using white out the other day and wanted to inhale that too (but didn't of course).

  • No crazy cravings here. Some favorites were pizza, wings, italian subs, & white cheddar popcorn!
  • A different fruit every month. Nectarines, watermelon, peaches, clementines, coconuts, raspberries... It was almost cyclical!

  • I have enjoyed cold raisinets, turkey subs and root beer more during this pregnancy compared to normal life. This third trimester has had me on a salad kick which reminds me that I haven't been able to handle anything "ranch" this entire pregnancy.

  • I can't eat chicken this pregnancy. I could live on Fruity Cheerios and bagels with cream cheese.
  • Mexican and Chinese food. I could definitely have survived off of that this pregnancy! And I can't stand eggs. The smell, texture, and taste. Everything is just horrible about them now.
  • Oh and cereal. I LOVE cereal.
  • Ice ice ice baby. I love chewing on ice my pregnancy. My favorite are little ice balls. My husband brings me ice from My fav gas station every morning. It's like waking up to flowers ! I figure there's no calories and it helps me stay hydrated so I'm happy for thus new addiction.
  • I totally forgot about oranges and ice!!! Crazy that I did. I eat one or two oranges every night. The ice thing is new. Today is day three of constant ice crunching. Crunching as I type, actually! Sadly all that water in my belly makes it kinda hard to get enough food in, but my weight is good so I'm not too worried.
  • I put basalmic glaze on everything. Ok. Not everything but just about. :)

I lived on carbs. Never wanted meat.. Not quite an aversion per say but I was just never in the mood for it.
I've been surviving on pizza, grilled cheese, pierogies, cereal and pasta

  • Milk. As of 3 weeks ago my household is going through about a gallon a day. I think it's mainly my consumption. One of my friends suggested a calcium deficiency, but I think I just want to drink milk.
  • Sushi and peaches. Only one of them was met with any regularity.
  • Sweets. Sweets. And sweets. (I'm usually a salt kind of girl) ;)
  • Nothing crazy, but I have had lots of pizza and chocolate milkshakes this pregnancy.  Particulary during the first trimester when they were the only things I could keep down.
  • I put basalmic glaze on everything. Ok. Not everything but just about. :)

This is me even when I'm not pregnant :)

I haven't had any special cravings that I can remember, but I have had a really hard time eating mushrooms, which I usually love.
  • I've loved fruit way more than in prepregnancy. Specifically apples and grapes. But any fruit will do! I've also eaten LOTS of honey nut cheerios. This last several weeks I've loved crunching on ice.

  • I have had a chicken aversion with both of my pregnancies. It is interesting to see that others do too. I wonder if there is a reason for that?

I had a HUGE chicken aversion until maybe week 20.  It was terrible.  I still have an aversion to boiled eggs.  I don't know why that it is, but it was terrible since chicken is something I eat most days of the week.
