UO Thursday

UO = Unpopular Opinion

I think too many of the moms to be have set unreasonable, unhealthy weight gain goals.  You’re growing a human.  30 pounds is average and healthy. Give your body what it needs. Eat healthy and allow indulgences every now and then. You’ll be fine.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I agree and there are plenty of floor exercises FOR pregnant women that help build the pelvic floor. Also, after you have the baby you drop 10ish lbs like it's nothing.
  • I hate the terms "DH" or "DS" etc.
  • I don't want to gain a lot of excess weight but I will indulge in most of my cravings because more often than not, what I'm craving has something in it my little peanut needs. Other than that I'm not too worried. I plan on breastfeeding and I heard that makes you shed pounds PP.

  • Formula is gross.
  • Agreed @Tourmaline15‌. Plus I want my LO to have my antibodies. I'm highly resistant to poison oak/ivy and I rarely get sick.

  • I think formula is gross too, it's so unnatural! But I can't imagine breastfeeding! That seems gross to me too! It's BODY FLUID. I'm going to read up on it all but I wish you could just grind up normal food and put it in a bottle. Or protein shakes or something

  • I don't hate chubby women. And maybe you're a troll? I'm not saying I'm not going to breastfeed or use formula but I can say it's KIND of weird that milk even comes out of humans. I just think it's weird, but not bad. I don't know what you mean about sharing WHO I AM or why it even matters to you. Who are YOU? Hmmmm.... Go harras someone else
  • Formula is gross.

Don't start. We don't need to have formula/breastfeeding and circumcision debates in one week. I have no idea why we're discussing this now anyway, when the Oct. 1 moms are 6 weeks today.

  • @ClvndSteamerGurl‌ Yeah I think you are a troll as well, sorry. Your screen name kinda says it all and your picture doesn't look like your 19 unless it's not really you. Not trying to be mean or start a fight but definitely think your a troll. :-w And humans are mammals that's why we produce milk so I don't believe it's weird I think it's a beautiful part of being a mother!
  • I can see where the bf is weird comments are coming from, I mean I know we're mammals and are but I've never been pregnant before so it does seem kinda weird to think about milk coming out of my boobs! I have little brothers that I remember when they were babies but they had formula so maybe I'm just not used to it! I do plan to bf though!
  • I think some people find it odd because breasts have become such a sexual thing. Does that make sense? I think it's hard for some women to get over the idea that once you have a baby they serve another purpose.

  • It's called a UO for a reason. Plus, I'm pretty sure I never said I judge a mom for formula feeding. I just think it smells gross, It is a gross color and it makes poops gross. Again, MY opinion, as the title states.

  • My UO has nothing to do with pregnancy, lol... I hate coffee. Even the smell of it. Ugh... Gross! LOL.

    Pretty sure it doesn't matter.
  • Winter is better than summer. I love snow.
Plus, you can always add more layers but you can only take so many off!
  • I really don't see a lot of support here. Nobody gets to talk about anything without someone freaking out about it and this terms of use violation hanging over our heads. I'm not experienced and I don't have anyone to talk to about pregnancy or babies. It doesn't make me a bad person or unwilling to learn something I didn't know before! If you don't agree with me, you should still treat me with respect.
  • I think Prius drivers are always soooo slow.  That car is a status symbol and really not much more earth friendly than a regular car.

  • I think Prius drivers are always soooo slow.  That car is a status symbol and really not much more earth friendly than a regular car.

We never drove slow in our Prius, heh. I get what you're saying, though. It seems like on the interstate, you're always passing a slow Prius. All I can think is that they must think that driving slower saves them even more fuel, which isn't the case. We had a BMW M6 for the sexy performance car, and the Prius was the practical car getting 46 mpg as opposed to the v10 that was getting 16. I guess we wanted complete opposites to average eachother out haha.
  • My UO sorry ladies but I have no problem with the child harness. My son is currently 3 and listens well enough we don't need it but he has been walking since 11 months and from about 1-2.5 I used it several times. Not for like everyday use but we have a huge zoo where I live and we get a family pass every year. I think it's unfair to confine him to a stroller instead of letting them walk sometimes. It's not a leash attached to a collar on his neck or anything it is a tiny book bag with chest strap and the tail of the monkey fastens to your wrist. This fall I fully intend to harness my 1 yr old, wear my newborn, and hold my soon to be 4 year old s hand or let him stay right with me. Overprotective? Maybe but I don't care and neither do my kids:)
  • Idk if this will be unpopular but man I miss drinking already! Ha! I was never a Heavy drinker just an occasional glass of wine but I didn't allow myself any alcohol since I knew there was a chance I was pregnant. I know waiting the 9 months will be worth it of course.
  • You can still have an occasional glass of wine
  • UO- I really don't want people asking me personal questions about me just because they can see my protruding belly.

This obviously hasn't happened yet as I will be only 5 weeks tomorrow, but, I am pretty sure that I am going to have strangers walk up to me "Oh! You're pregnant?! Is it a boy or a girl? When are you due?  Is this your first one? What are you naming it?"

It's like, I am just trying to shop/eat/whatever and you're all up in my business. OH! And the touching... If anyone puts their hand on my stomach without asking me (to which I will say no to anyways) I will scream so loud they will think the sound barrier is broken.

I mean, I guess that if a waitress/waiter is just being polite and they ask, like, a few questions that is fine but people who wouldn't talk to me otherwise need to mind their own damn business.

  • @WaffleyGoodness‌ I'm half looking forward to that because I get to be rude to nosy people. Also side eye works great. Just stay silent and give em side eye haha.

  • Also if a stranger touches/ tries to touch my belly without asking I'm open palm slapping them. No Ragrets lol

ETA: I meant to spell regrets that way. 10 points to Gryffindor to whoever can tell me what movie it's from.

  • No regrets? Really, not even one letter? Love that movie! We're the millers :)

    I highly doubt that.
  • Yep I agree all the questions are annoying...especially for me because I hate small talk with strangers!

Actually I'm going to go more into this because I'm annoyed. I highly doubt that you'd actually hit someone. In the small chance you do actually have the balls to do that, I can't believe that you would physically assault someone who had nothing but good wishes for you. I get nobody likes to be touched by a stranger but what kind of parent will you be to threaten violence instead of just politely saying "oh please don't, I'm not a very touchy feely person" with a smile. You'll probably be the first to complain about how someone didn't hold open a door for you 7 month pregnant belly or how no one seems to think your showing.
  • Yeah @moonseeds92‌, you need a little love and light in your life
  • It looks like @moonseeds was just quoting a movie, but even if she wasn't, I think she was just exaggerating. I don't think anybody will really hurt anyone, but I do think people do need to learn the concept that a pregnant belly is not a hands on exhibit, unless you ask and receive permission.

But, knowing my luck my family is gonna be all over me once the quickening happens. (It should be in May, ladies!!)

  • @WaffleyGoodness‌ hit the nail on the head. "My belly is not a hands on exhibit" will be my response to strangers trying to grab at it lol. Thanks girl!

@pettybetty‌ I have a feeling you're one of those "participation award", no spanking and no points in children's sports kinda people. I may be wrong it's just a guess from your response.
