I am so sorry if this has been asked but how long does it usually take for HCG to go back down to zero? I had a D&C on 1/6 and when I went in for a follow up my HCG was already down to 24 from in the 10 of thousands (9 week miscarriage). I went back Monday for an ultrasound and bloodwork with my RE and my HCG is now a 15. It seems so weird that it only went down by 9 in 2 weeks time. Did anyone else take a long time? Thanks!
*Formerly peainthepod?* TTC since 1/1/2006. All cycles BFN! IUI's & IVF with no luck. Emergency surgery 11/07 due to hemmoraging cyst on left ovary. 3rd HSG showed complete blockage of right tube (the good side), endo/cysts/adhesion removal 11/11. New start for 2012! Surprise BFP 6/17/12, due 2/12/13. It's a boy!!! Baby Boy born on January 26, 2013.
Last February my baby's heart stopped beating and the baby died. I opted for the pill to naturally have a miscarriage instead of having a D&C. My HCG levels took about 2-3 weeks to go down. I think closer to 3 weeks. I'm not sure why yours aren't down to 0 yet, but if your doctor doesn't seem concerned then you shouldn't be. I would call your doctor and address your concern to her. I know my HCG levels were very slowly going down in the beginning and it scared me. I was so frustrated having to go in and get poked for blood work every week when I was already dealing with so much. But toward the very end of my levels going down, then they started to drop significantly.
I'm sorry about your miscarriage. I'm not sure if this is your first child or not, but our miscarriage was our first. Now we're 35 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby boy. So if it's your first or you're trying to have more kids then don't give up! Sometimes, sadly, this stuff just randomly happens.
I had a D&C on 1/21, last Thursday on 1/29 my levels were down to 500. I have to go back next Thursday to see if I'm at zero. They said my period could start even prior to next Thursday if I'm close to zero.
