20 weeks and no movement

I am 20 weeks and though I know our little Naomi is active, I still can't feel it. :/ This is my first so I'm guessing I just don't realize what I'm feeling. Either way I can hear her moving on my home doppler just wish I knew if I was feeling it or not. What does it usually feel like at 20 weeks?

Re: 20 weeks and no movement

  • Maybe you have an anterior placenta, which is pretty common, and that's why you don't feel her yet? I've been feeling my baby since 18 weeks. it kind of feels like something is rolling around inside you, or big pops of gas bubbles (with no gas). Some people say when it's the baby, you'll just know, and that was very true for me. Hopefully you start feeling her soon!

  • I hope, I did ask my doctor earlier last week and he said I may already feel it but not to worry because eventually it will keep me up all night.lol. I'm not worried but I am excited. :)
  • I'm 22 weeks today and I started feeling good movement a week ago so maybe in a couple of more weeks you will start feeling some movement. A few weeks ago I thought I may have felt some movement but after this week I'm definitely sure I feel her kicking. Don't worry :) you will feel your little one soon enough.
  • Have you ever sat in a massage chair while getting a pedicure?  Think of that sensation on low...but from the inside.  That is the best way I know to describe the feeling initially.

I have had the hardest time trying to find the right words to describe this feeling. You ma'am have just nailed it!

  • I'm 21 weeks and I've only had one time where I've been pretty sure it was the Ewok moving. The times I *think* I feel movement it feels a bit like my pulse or my heartbeat, but not where I'm used to feeling it. I've been thinking that they would be single little incidents - a jab here, a kick there - but from the massage chair and fishie description I'm now thinking it may be more consistent, and if so I'm wondering if the past few nights I've been up feeling this sensation in my abdomen is the Ewok or not. I feel it the most when laying down at night. I plan to ask my OB at my appt next week. I'm excited for it and wondering about it, too

  • I used to wonder why I couldn't feel either so how I first felt her move was I laid flat on my back so my stomach was as flat as possible (I have an anterior placenta) and sure enough I felt her squirming around in there. I'm now at 22 weeks and that's the only way I know for sure it's her and not gas bubbles but once she's big enough there's no mistaking its your little one!
  • I'm in my first pregnancy also, but didn't start feeling my lil man till week 21 (: just feels like butterflies fluttering in my tummy (:
  • OP why don't you try drinking some orange juice and laying on your back for a bit? OJ gets the babies moving and I can always feel my baby the most when I'm laying down.

  • Op I wouldn't worry to much. With my first I didn't feel him till about 24 weeks. I started feeling this little guy at 16 weeks but off and on and very light. I agree that orange juice will get baby moving. Try that.
  • I am now 22 weeks FTM and I have only felt him a couple times really that I've been able to tell and they were all middle of the night. I do have an anterior placenta but I am super excited for when I can feel him more/when my hubby will be able to feel him as well. I am not a very patient person. Hopefully don't have to wait till I am 24 weeks:)
