Decided on a baby name yet?

Disclaimer: I know there is a baby name thread. This is meant to be a discussion thread more or less.

We still don't know the sex of the baby (we will February 16th) but we have decided on a girl name. No idea what we will name the baby if it is a boy. My fiance is Mexican and I am white, so deciding on a name that is suitable for both the English and Spanish speaking members of our families has been a struggle.

So, have any of you ladies decided on a name/s yet? I would love to hear them! :) Or any neat stories of how you came up with the name/s?

I'll start, we are going with Ariana Marie if we have a girl, and we are clueless for a boy.

Re: Decided on a baby name yet?

  • We are not learning the sex of the baby until the birth. So we are picking two names. My husband wants a jr so if it's a boy that name is already chosen. (I love my husband but when I was 10 and chose all my children's name his was not on the list lol). As for a girl, we could only ever decide on 2 girl names and since my first born was a girl we have one left. So not very exciting but we have known names since before I was pregnant.
Deciding with my first took a long time... We narrowed it to 2 names and decided at the hospital.

  • We keep switching... But for the past month or so the top contenders have been Autumn Savannah for a girl and Clayton Parker for a boy. We're not telling anyone IRL our choices until after baby joins us, just in case we change our minds.

  • We are having another baby boy. His name is Ryan James. DS 1 is Jake Michael.
  • Won't find out sex until Feb 11th. Dh is Greek and I'm American. We will be following Greek tradition if it is a girl (named after MIL) Chris.oula Rose (nn Sula).

We already have a boy named after FIL. So boy name is still up in the air, but I definitely want to keep it Greek but not TOO Greek lol.

I'm secretly hoping it's a girl so I don't have to figure out another boy name lol

  • We found out that we are having a boy and were completely shocked. Both families are full of girls, so we just knew it was going to be a girl lol! We had a list of baby girl names ready but didn't even think about boys. So basically, we had to start from scratch. But I think that we have definitely settled on Wesley as a first name (my Dad's middle name) and are toying with various other middle names. I think we have it but DH wants to keep looking for another MN just in case he missed a better one. haha

  • We aren't finding out the sex until birth. We have had a boy name picked since before we got pregnant, and we might have a girl name now, not 100% Yet.

    Boy. Samuel Alexander
    Girl Carmen Virginia
  • We have had our names picked out since before I got pregnant. We already have 2 girls with "K"names so we are going to keep that going.
Boy: Kyler Alan - I have always loved the name Ky so that will be the nickname and Alan is my DH's middle
Girl: Kenadi Lynn - Kennedy is mil's maiden name and Lynn is my middle.
  • we've had a boy name picked out for-ev-er. the girl name is giving us trouble (and my pregnant woman's intuition is screaming GIRL GIRL GIRL at me - hey, i've got a 50% chance that i'm right!). DH loves Juliet, i think it's a bit corny for a baby due in july and i DESPISE the potential nn Julie (no offense to any Julie's out there! it really is a personal reason). I really love Maren, and DH quite likes it too, but is stuck on Juliet. We both like Audrey, and it's not super popular in our state, but Aubrey is, so we're not 100% sold on it for that reason.

i made a poll over on the baby names board and people are just as split over there as we are, haha.

picking names is HARD. i think i stress about it a lot because i am an 80's Ashley, and when in my baby book my mom wrote that she picked my name because it was 'unique'! then there were 5 Ashley's in my first grade class, oops.
  • DH and I have had our names picked before we were even married, lol. We're using Delilah Sue for a girl. ( Sue is a name both of mom's have. My mom's 1st and his mom's Middle. Delilah is just a name we both love ) If it's a boy his name will be James Daniel.  Both names run on both of our families as well.  James is DH's name, as well as my grandpa's, uncles and cousins. Daniel is my dad and brother's name and his uncle's name.
  • Wow I love these names! I love willow but DH doesn't. We aren't set on names but Scarlett or piper for a girl and Desmond for a boy.
  • Ahhh! I have no idea on either sex! We have kinda been throwing names around but it's mainly done jokingly. My ultrasound is next Monday so I guess we are kind of waiting for that. That way we don't spend a lot of time deciding a boy's name just to find out its a girl. Or vice versa.
We already have a William Andrew and a Clara Elizabeth. So...any suggestions to go with those names would be appreciated!
  • We wont find out until early March, but we have a few names in mind. Only one boy name we both semi- agree on:

    Boy:
Finnian (Finn for nn) - no idea on middle name either
I also like the name Alden

    Girl:
    Sloan Carol
    Gemma Rose

    DS name is Grayland Robert.

  • My oldest is Arrianna Nichole. Her name came from my favorite book, her middle name is after my niece. All my kids are named after family members.

Tomorrow I find out the sex of the baby. Kaitlin Noelle for a girl, or Anthony Isadore for a boy. We just like Kaitlin and we love Christmas (like we compete in the neighborhood light contest and win love Christmas)so that's how we got Noelle. Anthony is after my husbands cousin, and Isadore is my husbands dads middle name.
  • @kladd7182‌ My sister was born Dec 28 and her middle name is Noelle, too! Love it!
We aren't set on a boy's name, but have a girl's name we love! DH's pick for the middle name is my first name (Elizabeth), but I'm not sure how I feel naming a child after myself?
  • For a boy I've picked Cobain Michael, but I'm not sure on a girls name yet! Haven't found a name I absolutely loved yet!
  • If it's a girl, I'm definitely going with Gwendolyn for a first name. I like Rose as a middle name, but I haven't decided if I wanna save that for another first name later.
Boy's name, both my husband and I liked the name Isaac for a while now. I like the middle name James, but that's my FIL's name, and we're not sure if we wanna use his name or not. I love the name Bruce for a first name too :)
  • We don't know the sex yet, but we are planning on finding out.

It's hard to get my bf to sit down and help me come up with a serious name, but we have a couple of ideas.

If it's a girl, he wants to name her Vallica and I want to name her Stella. We both like both names, so we'll see.

If it's a boy, I'm pretty sure I going to go with Varek. The bf has no suggestions on a boy name, and he liked that one when I mentioned it to him.

I love the name Zachary, but it's the bf's name and we don't like the idea of having a 'junior'.

Maybe that will be the middle name, I don't know.
  • We have Benjamin Matthew chosen for a boy but we can't decide between 2 girl names.  We like both, Jane Elizabeth and Natalie Jean.  We're team green so we won't know until July if we even need to worry about a girl name but if we end up having a girl we'll decide when we see her I guess.  DS is Joshua David.

We find out the next on the 13th, I'm sure I am having a boy but have a set list of names to pick from.

    Boys.
    Oliver Lucas
Charlie Lucas (I went to the name board and they suggested I should change charlie to charles. I'm from the uk and it's too royal family for me)

Lucas is after my 'uncle' close family friend, he is like my second dad and can't have children of his own.

    Girls.
    Ella Faith
    Millie Faith
    Sofia Faith
    Maya Faith

Faith is because I was told I would loose the baby so many times and have been in and of hospital so it's just fitting to use that name.
  • @hpanabaker fwiw, I LOVE Natalie Jean!
  • We find out on the 19th however we have picked a girls name. Charlotte Frances. For a boss name we can't seem to pick one we both love yet so hopefully it's a girl ;)
  • Our little lady firefly will be Kenleigh Jade. When my dad passed away unexpectedly a few years ago we decided that if we ever had a little girl with would continue with the (ken) names, his name was Kenneth and he named me Kendra. We went back and forth on which little girl ken name to use but my husband really loves the way this one is spelled, and another plus is our three year old son says it in the cutest way ever! -- Jade was chosen for a friend that passed away, their initials were KJ.
  • I've always loved the name Renata and I think it suits perfectly because it means "the reborned" and this is our rainbow baby. We've known since week 13 that we're having a girl so we never thought about a boys name.
  • I love Gaelic names so we had Eabha (pronounced like Ay-va or Ava) Madeleine picked for a girl and Odhran (Oar-an) for a boy! Found out that it's a girl so baby Eabha Madeleine it is! Madeleine is after DH's grandma and we both just love the name and thought they went well together so decided to make use of it!

We are Team Green so we are picking both a boy and girl name. For a boy, we chose Bryce Marshall. We chose Marshall as a middle name to surprise my mom :) Thats her maden name. For a girl, we are debating between Lauren Ann, Cora Ann or Kelly Ann. I think it's going to be Lauren :)

  • We aren't finding out the sex, I'm 15 weeks... My partner thinks it's too early to choose names haha we have sort of discussed it but he's not keen to be too organised, frustrating for a very organised person like me! :)
  • We have decided on Derek for our son :)
  • We have Orrin Ryder and Sabina Lileth ( or Louise if I get my way)

We are 90% positive it's a boy (NT scan should something done there but anatomy scan isn't till March) and we are torn between two boy names. Logan Glenn or Connor Glenn. Glenn is DH late grandfather so that was a given for us cuz we like family names as middle names. Logan and Connor were names we just liked. It feels very Logan to me but I'm not 100% on it yet.

    DD is Kailey Nadine.
Please excuse typos....auto correct hates me. =)

  • Boy: John Raymond (his late dad's name, and my dad's name)
Girl: Evelyn Grace (Evelyn is my late grandmothers name and Grace just because we like the sound of the names together  )
  • We are having a boy, and the current front runner is Parker Anthony.
  • We are having twin boys but had let ourselves get swept up in popular opinion that we were having one of each--had the PERFECT girl name picked out and were going to do a third (H is a jr) but now he doesn't want to name one of the twins after him so it's bad to the drawing board. I have a few names picked out but H is being a pain and isn't talking about names--I'm 18w4d---come on man, killin me here!!!!

I love the name Audrey as well and found a variation of it: Audrielle. It's a strong contender in my baby name list lol

Our little Princess will be named Teagan Skye. We just found out what we were having on Monday at our 18 week Ultrasound. The hubby was extremely excited when he found out that he got his little girl!
  • Addison Grace for our little one
  • My husband and I have decided on everything boy so far. The girl name I love, husband... Not so much. Haha

If we have a boy, his name will be Sawyer Bryan. :) Sawyer because we've been obsessed with it for years and Bryan because it is my husbands middle name as well as his fathers name.

If we have a girl, we're screwed. Not really jk ;)... But I LOVE my middle name Brooke and would love to name our daughter that, except I adore the middle name "Rae" and don't think that sounds right. So I figured we could name her Brooklyn Rae, but husband doesn't like Brooklyn :( I personally think Brooke Rae doesn't sound as beautiful as Brooklyn Rae. Husband agrees that it doesn't sound right, but he just told me last night "but Brooklyn reminds me of the Brooklyn bridge... I don't want our daughter to be named after a bridge". Literally? He cracks me up. Anyways.... Maybe I am overreacting about Brooke Rae not sounding right, but my heart is set on Brooklyn Rae. Ugh! Thoughts??
