Re: Manic Monday!

  • Well SO and I finally hashed out everything from the epic fight the previous week at end of last week.  (We don't like things hanging and we don't like when things seem imbalanced) The weekend was about us reconnecting and it was great.  No real gripes but I am going back into month end close at work.  With month/year end close last month that seemed to go on all month....I am not looking forward to this week.

  • 14 inches of snow and 'feels like -5'
  • @kindershlitz - I feel for you.  We only got about 6 inches but it started out as the wet heavy snow so everything is frozen now.  Such a pain.

My Monday isn't going to be bad, but my Tuesday is going to be crazy.  I have New Employee Orientation in the morning and we're on our payroll deadline so I have to get all of that ready before 2pm.  Tomorrow will be nuts!

  • @suziq1978‌ ours is light and fluffy but still nowhere to put it :). It is pretty though and the sun is out.
  • @kindershlitz - at least the sun is out!  I had about 4 inches of ice on the cars this morning because I didn't think to clean them off yesterday before the temp dropped so much.  That was lots of fun!  :)

  • Ugh we got snow over night that turned to rain so everything is a slushy mess. I just shoveled 1000lbs of wet slushy snow from the end of the driveway. Not how I wanted to spend my day off !!!!!

My cake from yesterday came out nice. I will post a pic. I have another olaf cake for Saturday so next week you will see that.

Hoping this week goes smoothly for everyone. This winter weather is getting to me now. I can't wait to see the crocuses and tulips start to push through the ground.

  • @hooligans4‌ that cake is amazing! I hate slush. I'm waiting for the plow to finally go down our street and push the heavy stuff back into our driveway!
  • @holligans4 I love the cake!!!  You are very creative.  I especially love the bottle behind the cake. :)

  • @kindershlitz‌ that's what I had to shovel away. My husband doesn't get home till after 8 and it would have been a block if ice by then.

@sonpetitlapin‌ lol. I use the vodka to take the corn starch and powdered sugar off the finished cake. It evaporates so it dries with out making the fondant sticky. But sometimes I do shot for shot with the cakes.

Omg I just realized how messy my table looks in the picture.

  • @holligans4 Nice cake! Impressive. I hate Mondays because I never do as much work during the weekend as I should and so I'm always running behind. Doesn't bode well for working on the not stressing thing!
I had such a nice weekend, and even worked on those pants I'm making, but now it's like kaboom, hit by all the work. Sux.

Sorry about all the snow and ice, folks. I remember shoveling. That blows.

  • @Dwmmwd you are making pants. That's so awesome. I try to sew but it doesn't always work out. I did make some double sided curtains to block my mud room from the kitchen. Totally far from perfect but I was proud of myself for doing it.

Post pics of your pants. Im Interested

Okay, here ya go. I swear, my butt is not this lumpy in real life but the pictures make it look bad. I haven't done the waistband yet, but I'm pretty proud. they're like a stretchy corduroy trouser. Or will be hopefully soon. I can't tell if the pics are going to be extra huge on here. Sorry if they are.

  • @hooligans4 - love the cake!!

Meanwhile on the west coast it is scary dry - little to no snow or rain all month.

No real monday gripes, just the usual oh crap i have a ton to do this week!

  • hooligans4 thanks! I'm working hard on them. I hope they actually fit nicely when all is said and done. Zippers actually aren't as scary as everyone makes them out to be, especially if you have a zipper foot for your machine.

  • @Teenie16‌ bakery's are a tough business. I worked in one for over ten years. I wish I could work at a shop part time decorating. I love cake decorating but when you work at a bakery it's a lot of early mornings and long days. I do miss it sometimes.
