Bikinis and baby bumps

Being that we're all due around the same time, I know that we'll all be big and beautiful this summer& we will all run into this problem at some point.. Just wondering who will be wearing 2 pieces and who won't& why. I'm still debating. If you won't be wearing a 2 piece, what will you be wearing? Love to hear everyone's opinions.. Thanks (:

  • I wouldn't really consider myself a fit momma either, but this is my first.. So far no stretch marks or weight gain. Besides the bump you wouldn't know I'm pregnant but just curious how others feel about pregnant people wearing bikinis
  • ...i felt self conscious in one before....maybe next year. Fit mama's or mama's with no weight gain definitely have the advantage here.

  • Going on our Babymoon today... I have brought both tankini and bikini... SO voiced his opinion that i should wear bikini... So I m gonna do it

I wore bikini before I got pregnant but I always feel self conscious thou.... I feel this is prob the only time it is ok for my belly not to be prefect and flat (which never was)... So I am just gonna do it hahahha
  • I'll be happy to rock a bikini. I think it would be more comfy.

  • 1) my baby's due June 2 and we have no vacation plans by then, so I won't be needing them.

    2) I personally would not feel comfortable with it, but I haven't worn one in a few years anyway, so I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing one even if not pregnant

    3) if YOU feel comfortable with it, go for it!

  • I'm due June 8 and won't be going to the beach before baby. I'm sad I won't get to wear a bikini with my baby bump.
  • I don't wear bikinis either.  I'm a 1-piece kind of girl but do plan on getting a tankini for pregnancy (we've been at the pool a lot teaching our kids how to swim).  I'd get a 1-piece like normal but the hospital I'm delivering at has beautiful labor tubs so I'd rather NOT have to get out and take a wet 1-piece off, figured I'd just wear the top in there.

  • You don't want to see this in a bikini not pregnant, so definitely a pass for me. This is definitely a do what you want to do and makes you happy thing. May and June are hit or miss around here, so I doubt it will even be hot enough to make this a viable topic for me anyway. I usually only wear a swimsuit once a year and that's when Mom and I take our annual long weekend down to Nag's Head in September.

  • I can't fit into my bikini because boobs. I don't want to spend the money on new one just for this summer. I may feel differently if I were due at the end of summer and could get more use out of it.

  • I'd have no problem rocking a bikini while pregnant since I wear one when I'm not...but I'll probably opt for a tankini after I give birth. I have no idea what my post-pregnancy body will look like and we'll be hitting the beach about 8 weeks after the baby arrives (assuming he/she is on time). If I have a lot of extra skin flapping around, I'm going to cover it up.

  • I'm not a fan of the look, so I'll be passing. And it doesn't start to get *that* warm here before late May anyways so the need likely won't present itself. I have some tankinis from my last pregnancy (August baby) that I'll wear should I need them. I'll wait till I have my post baby body back to bust out the bikinis again.

  • I try to be modest and have always worn a tankini. I love tankinis anyway because getting out of a one piece is awful pregnant or not. I think pregnant bodies are beautiful, but I just don't need to see all that... I prefer a covered body pregnant or not, but that's me.
  • I will wear a bikini until/ if I get stretch marks
  • We travel quite a bit so I've already started rockin the bikini bump look. I was sure to purchase 2 new ones with tops that provide enough coverage.
  • I have a couple of maternity tankinis. I only wore a bikini to tan or with the hubs before. I'm typically a tankini user. If you are so inclined, I say flaunt that bump.

  • Yep. Did so for the last 3 pregnancies. Always have and always will wear a bikini. Cellulite, veins, baby bump, and all. I could care less about what others may think of me. If you don't like what you see, then don't look. ;)

  • I think you should wear one if you're comfortable in a 2 piece bikini! I am just more conservative so I would wear a one piece. Also, A co-worker (who isn't a mom) expressed to me that seeing her pregnant friend (on a social site) in a bikini was weird and that it should be more private but that's her opinion & she doesn't know how beautiful and amazing being pregnant is.
  • I actually have felt the most confident being pregnant since like high school and would love to rock a bikini. The fact that I already have some cute ones will make it easier (I hate bathing suit shopping!) We'll see, though, how this pregnancy treats my skin. So far, so good...

  • Due late June however we live in Florida and have a pool. I'll be out in my bikinis all Summer long. Just was out last week in one!
  • I bought a new bikini last summer and had hoped to wear it on vacation this spring, but I tried it on this weekend and found that it doesn't fit anymore because of how big my boobs have grown.  My one piece still fits, but it'll be a pain to take on and off.  I'll probably get a cheap bikini or maternity tankini.
  • Go for it. I have worn a tankini while pregnant.
  • I'm going on vacation in May and I'm not due til the end of June. We live on a lake so I am planning on swimming the second it gets warm enough. I am very small, to find a swimsuit that fits prepregnancy is hard so I'll probably just keep wearing my bikinis I have unless I change my mind later.
  • DH and I are leaving for our baby moon to New Zealand tomorrow. This fit mama will definitely be rocking a bikini on one of those beautiful beaches.
  • Living in SoCal we are in bathing suits year round essentially, so I will continue to rock my bikinis. Way more comfortable and I don't need to spend money a special maternity suit.
  • Its super cute but, I'm too fat so no I will not be wearing a two piece.
  • I'm usually a bikini wearer but I am going to be wearing a tankini with the bump this summer. I don't think my bump and poky belly button look good sticking out of a bikini...personal preference :)
  • Was just in the Bahamas and rocked my bikini everyday.. Letting it all hangout and enjoying it ;)
  • I have a maternity one piece and bikini. I alternate between them when we go to family swim with DS. The bikini is wayyyyyyy more fun to get on and off. Like times a million. I will likely mean more towards that as I get bigger. The one piece was a cheapy from old navy I got for the first part of pregnancy when I was mostly fat and boated. Now that I'm round... To hell with that!

  • I think it would be easier to find a two piece that fit while pregnant. The idea of trying on any more bathing suits then I need to at a store wouldn't be fun. Blah!

Also, baby bellies are beautiful! Show 'em off while you can. <3
  • I don't think it will be bikini weather outside here till June anyway, so i probably won't get a chance to rock a swimsuit out of doors. However, I am in a swimming aerobics class right now, and wear boy short bottoms with a tankini top. I used to rock a bikini top, even with my (former) beer gut. But I use the tankini cause these classes are at the Y, and I'm not sure how a bikini would go over. If it does get warm enough to use a swimsuit outside, I will probably use the bikini top. Why the heck not.

OMG! I never thought about the one-piece bathroom break logistics issue, but you're right!

I'm due 6/4, so my bump will be all leftover fat during swim season. I'll probably wear a bikini (and a cover-up if other people are around). Fortunately, my parents have a pool, so I can lay around in a bikini with baby (at least until it gets too hot for baby outdoors).
  • I stretched WAY out with my first and have a billion stretch marks... After 3 years of working out and getting back in shape I rocked a bikini last year. With that being said now that I will be huge this summer I am sure my billions of stretch marks will be red and ugly and huge since I'm already getting huge, so I will not be rocking an itty bitty bikini this summer BUT next summer watch out lol

  • DH thinks I look great in a bikini with my huge twin bump! So that's all the confidence I need!
  • I have a nice bikini. But when I am 7 months or so I'll. have my takani. For my big belly
  • I was a competitive swimmer for years, trust me gals; no need to take the one piece all the way off. They are made of spandex and very stretchy, just pull that thing to the side! Unless you have a stream akin to niagra falls, it's really not a problem.
