2nd Trimester

Group B Strep.

I'm almost 13 weeks pregnant and my Dr just let me know that I have Group B Strep in my urine. Has anyone else experienced this or is experiencing this? I still am not 100% what it is, how I got it...I know it's untreatable and completely harmless to me. When I have my baby, they have to put him or her on antibiotics before we deliver the baby. Without antibiotics, the baby could get the infection and it could cause serious illness or even death. I would love to hear more about this or if anyone has or is dealing with this, thanks.

  • You'll be treated with IV antibiotics during labor to decrease the chance of transmission to the baby as it comes through the birth canal.  GBS status is common in women.  It's not a big deal but it's important to treat.
