Trying to Get Pregnant

Best chance to conceive?

Hey ladies, I am currently on cycle 3 TTC. Last cycle my period came later than I was expecting and got my hopes up so this month I have started temping and bought an opk. I also bought pre-seed to try out this month. I realized quickly not knowing when I ovulated makes the TWW almost unbearable and much more stressful than it needs to be. Both my mom and aunt took 5 years to conceive with no real answers as to why. I just want to be doing everything I can to give us the best possible chance of conceiving. Has anyone tried the pre-seed? Is there anything else I can be doing? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

You're on the right track.  Temping, pre-seed (we've used it), and good timing of sex.  Take care of yourself, too.  Drink water.  Try to keep busy and live life as usual.  3 cycles in isn't too far along at all, so chin up.  The only other thing I can think of is using OPKs.

This is great advice, all around.  I'm a big fan of OPKs (especially the digital ones) to pinpoint the LH surge.  I don't know whether there's science to back up the use of Pre-Seed to increase the likelihood of pregnancy per se.  However, if lube is needed to make sex comfortable/more enjoyable, then it is a "sperm-safe" lubricant, and, in that regard, it may be helpful.

Read the newbie blog. oh wait, that was deleted along with all of our other wonderful resources with the plan to roll out the "new bump". Someone around here may have the blog link in their siggy.
Actually the few people who were giving out the link to the newbie blog are getting banned for doing so.
  • Yep, I got a warning for it.
  • There used to be a wealth of information here, but sadly most members have been banned or deleted. If you like, I'm sure someone could let you know where they are now.

  • The blog was hijacked by those who left (it was supposedly their creation in the first place, I can't confirm or deny). In the changes that were made, it speaks poorly of this site and promotes a site who is trying to destroy this one. I imagine it is therefore considered spam.

Having read it when I first started reading here, you can read the ttgp/TTC info on the main site and FF for charting and get all the same info. The only thing you'd be missing is the ettiqutte stuff, which is pretty basic and currently ignored by those who are "leaving" but won't actually leave the rest of us alone.

  • Thanks to the couple of ladies that took the time to respond. I am just looking for a little advice, not a new forum, obviously a lot of the resourceful ladies that have "left" this site are still here to talk about it, so if you are using my question to inform me of that at least throw something helpful in there, I would appreciate it. Thanx

  • They were helpful?
  • I'll second FF as being very helpful - anything that will generally be healthy and reduce stress is good. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned prenatals as important while ttgp, but my doc said to start them even before we were officially trying.

  • I never said "meanies" and appreciate being told a second place to look for information, all I ask is that while you take the time to say that, maybe add in some advice. I have been looking at the site suggested but it seems a lot of the people there are still reading over here. It seems strange to me to post the same thing on 2 places for a lot of the same people to read. I don't use FF but have an app similar that has charting and temps etc, it seems to be working good for me. I have been taking folic acid along with a multi vitamin but my dr told me not to worry about prenatals until I knew I was pregnant saying as long as I am eating a healthy diet and taking a multi I'd be good. I have done. Some reading on this and it seems to go both ways. Any recommendations on a good prenatal?

  • My doc said a generic brand was fine (didn't have to be anything fancy) as long as it had the folic acid in it (which you are taking already) - so I'd say you're in good shape on that front!

  • Buy a basal body thermometer and start temping. Sign up for Fertility Friend. Use OPKs if you want. Make sure to have sex in your fertile window.

That's really all you need at this point. 3 months isn't long since it can take a year and you have a 20% chance each cycle.
