Re: Entertain me today!

  • I started watching Masters of Sex on Showtime. My SIL recommended it. I was skeptical at first, but the storyline is interesting, the characters are great, and then there are some gratuitous sex scenes. Pretty much like every other HBO & Showtime series...

  • One of my meds can't be taken with any Vitamin C, zinc (a whole bunch of other vitamins) rich foods. I have to take 3 hours before or after. SO, I need to plan my meals around shit food for the next couple weeks. I eat a yogurt & banana for breakfast every day. A spinach salad for lunch. Cheese for snacks. Not happy here folks.

  • My boss is out of the office today. I have no idea why but I thought it was Friday so I'm in jeans. Oops. He wouldn't care but my internal calendar is off.

DH is bringing me lunch since I'm stuck here all day. I'm excited for a bit of a break in the day and getting to see him. I haven't seen him since Monday morning because of his work schedule, midnights.

  • I started out taxes this morning and we owe a bunch of money this year. I have no idea why, we didn't change anything from last year...I need to pull up the brackets from the IRS and see if we are in a new bracket or something. I need to have DH look it over too. I never have issues doing our taxes and I feel like I missed something this year - or maybe I should try to do work while my brain is under the influence.

We used to have weeks where we could wear jeans if you donate $5 to a charity (or bring in food for food pantry etc.).  I was always afraid I'd wear jeans on the wrong week.

Now, we can wear jeans any day of the week, it's up to our discretion based on meetings etc.  I wear jeans a lot.  It's great.

lol.  No.  They are in Minneapolis, I am in WI.  I have been pretty open though that I work at a retailer, so if anyone googled retailer in Milwaukee, they could probably figure it out.  I'll decide later if I want to delete this.  :)

I do have a really good friend who works there though.  And yes, we also adopted "dress for your day" after Target rolled that out.

ETA:  My lol didn't have to do with working there either, I'm laughing at how open I've been on here about work.  :)  I would love to work there and have considered moving to the twin cities many times, but I am here because of my family.  I couldn't convince anyone else to leave the state with me.

When I had my mess of sinus infection/bronchitis over Christmas my second antibiotic (because the first didn't work!) was one I had the restriction of no dairy 2 hours before or after (there were some other minerals too but dairy was the big one).  I love my yogurt and cheese and finding a time to take that damn pill was killing me!  Plus it was for two weeks.

I always sacrificed breakfast -  because the first few hours i was asleep and i could deal with changing up breakfast for week or two.

I have to admit its nice but some people go a bit overboard.  i usually wear nice jeans with heals and dress tops.  so at least you look polished.  others i have seen in sweatshirts and what i can only guess are their gardening shoes

My previous job I wore jeans and polo every day. Then I got hired here in an office and I couldn't wait to dress up. After 4.5 years I'm kind of over it but there's no escaping. I'd love to wear a combo of jeans or work attire a few times a week. Jeans are so much more comfy.

I like the combo.  I don't wear jeans everyday.  And in the summer I wear dresses more than jeans.  In the winter I've been lazier because it's cold out and I like the look of jeans and a nice sweater.

@smb+jab - People go overboard here too.  But we still have rules in place that say you can't wear tennis shoes and you can't wear sweatshirts/t-shirts etc.  Most people stick within those guidelines but even with our old dress code people went outside the rules as well.

I'll never understand people dressing like shit for work. If it's jeans, you should wear an outfit like you are. I am today. I put on a dressy top that I would wear with dress pants and I'm wearing heels. I always look nice (at least I think) and wouldn't dress frumpy. I don't get some people. When I interviewed for this job the person before me wore a velour sweatsuit. I'm an assistant to a financial advisor. Yeah, that's not going to work out very well.

I've heard we might be getting one here. I have no idea what it is though. Our town is pretty small. I've heard its like Walmart but with better produce. True? I'm sure it's a rumor though. We're finally getting a JJ's. We're so sheltered here.

I've been to them when visiting MI.  My impression is that they're way better than Walmart, not as nice as Target.  They're like a super-walmart (food & everything else), so that's why they're different than ShopKo (which I'm not a huge fan of honestly).  Since we don't have any super targets around here, I am thinking I'll like Meijers.  However, I'd really love to get a Super Target.

We are getting 2 in the next few weeks?months? I'll let you know! I've heard a "step-down" from Target but a huge "step-up" from Walmart..,.which I despise so im ok with it. Our only bummer is that one ofthe new Meijers is going on within a mile of Woodman's and I love me some Woodman's.

For fresh produce?  Meijer wins over all grocery stores we have in our city.  Huge selection of weird things and always pristine.  But it's nothing like Target in terms of homegoods and clothing.

Our CEO wears polos with nice jeans and tennis shoes.  He prides himself on "We're casual!  I wore suits for too many years!"  So everyone dresses like shit.  Our new engineer wears holey jeans and sloppy tshirts that are oddly short - I see his boxer band when he sits down or leans over.  I mean, at least try to match the CEO's attire.  I'm not going to complain though - at least this engineer showers!!!

  • Would you guys consider a 2m old to be a "child" at a wedding?

DH's childhood friend is getting married in Charlottesville, VA in March. We thought we'd make a long weekend out of it and take Sam. We did not even consider taking Jack& Will, since it was just DH & I invited. The ceremony & reception are all at the same resort, so I could step away back to our room to nurse or put Sam to bed.

The groom told DH he had to check & then basically said we couldn't bring Sam bc they're not inviting many kids. I get it bc our wedding was pretty tight w/#s but I'm sure we would have made an exception for a 2m old baby who is nursing, who'd be sleeping in a car seat. Oh and he knew it was just Sam. So now I'm bummed DH might still go & bc my BIL (DH's twin) & SIL are going. Andplusalso, it sounds like a really cool wedding.

  • @amandad715 Wow, no, I would not consider a 2mo a "kid" in that situation.  The ONLY difference would be if there were zero kids going, period.  I think your DH should RSVP 0 for all of you, since they can't seem to understand the difference between kids and a 2mo old nursing baby.  Maybe they will come back and change their mind, maybe they won't.

And I hope someone does that to them someday so they can look back and think, Whoops.
