High-Risk Pregnancy

Anti-c

Hi there my name is Sarah and I'm 5 weeks pregnant.

When I was pregnant with my son 5 years ago I was diagnosed as anti-c positive and was labled as high risk and went for weekly scans to make sure he wasn't becoming anemic etc.

Now I just received my blood work for this baby and there's nothing on there about the anti c.

Is it possible it's not an issue this time around? Is it something that can come and go? I was under the impression it's something is have to always deal with in future pregnancies.... Or would it come up later on?

I want to jump for joy if it's something that's not going to factor in this pregnancy but scared it's something that will/could be detected later.

I know it's very very rare no this is not like most anti body issues, there are no shots that can be take. To prevent anything from happening all that can be done are scans and close Monitoring.

Re: Anti-c

  • If your partner is heterozygous for C then there is a possibility that the baby is negative and it wouldn't be a problem. My husband is homozygous for D and G so our baby was definitely positive and future babies would be as well.

Good luck and I hope things remain 'normal' for you.
