Birth Story and Intro

Hello all,

This was our second pregnancy and delivery. Both SO different. Sidney took 3 days to get here laboring in the hospital ( Our first LO) This time things were a bit different.

The week after my due date i went into the hospital thinking i was having contractions. Was told false labor and sent home. Then 5 days after that i started having contractions again but they were so off the wall and not consistent i thought nothing of it. I labored like that for the next 2 days. Yes we are now 2 weeks past due and i was scheduled to be induced the following day on the 21st. Well Thursday i had my mom coming to stay with our first LO while we were in the hospital (we were worried labor was going to be just as bad the second time around) My mom shows up and i am having contractions anywhere from 2, 5, then 9 minutes apart. I started having the WORST back labor. I had heard of this before but had no idea...no idea...

My husband came home around 6pm. I had enough time to put together a meat loaf at some point in the day and bake cookies for our nurses the next day. My mom was concerned by my laboring and convinced me to go to the hospital. Well DH thought it was another false alarm so he went up to shower. by the time i made it up the stairs to ask him to go to the hospital i was in tears. He suggested that i labor in bed for a bit before we go. He thought once we got there if it was the real deal we were going to be there for so long again. I had to agree but still begged to leave. Meatloaf had like 6 minutes to go so we were leaving hungry.

We were going to run through a drive thru to get him something to eat but the contractions were barely 2 minutes apart and i was histarical by this point. We parked at the emergency room doors at 650. Made it upstairs at 7pm. I was begging for an epidural the moment i had gotten off the elevator. Nurses checked me said she thought i was 5cm. (could have killed her for having me lay on my back). said she was going to get iv and epidural ordered. Rolled over to labor on my hands and knees while they prepped the room. Everyone left to get "supplies" and about 706 my water broke. nurses came running in. checked me again on my hands and knees. said i was totally dialated and she could see the babies head. By this time the doctor wasnt there still. All of a sudden i felt pressure and the nurse said dont push (Still on hands and knees) She wanted to roll me to have me deliver on my back. That just was not going to happen. 709 I pushed and his head came out...nurse swore and had me push again to deliver GRAPHIC... i pooed on the nurse with the second push so LO fell to the bed on his own.

They cleaned him (and the nurse) up a bit and introduced son to us. I was sitting there pain free and couldnt believe that within 20 minutes i had a kid. My DH wanted me to labor in bed? then go to a drive thru? This could have ended horribly

To this day i dont feel like i had a baby. i wanted that epidural so bad but there was no pain afterwards. i would do all that again (minus the close call) if i knew it was going to be that quick and painless afterwards. Kuddos to all of you mommies that willingly do things that way!

@Hooterrific all mommies get kuddos no matter the birth story. I cant relate to many so i can only imagine what you had to go through! going to stalk your activity and see if youve put up a birth story!
