Did anyone have growth issues after IVF?

I'm curious because my friend, who also did IVF, had to have a growth scan around 30 weeks because her perinatal place told her that IVF babies are more at risk of slow growth and a few other development problems. I'd like to have another scan done, but my OB's office is very laid back and this entire pregnancy they've just wanted to emphasize over and over that I'm a normal pregnant person- which I hope- but I am still a little alarmed by some articles I've read online about IVF and some of the statistics.

DS and my current pregnancy are results of IVF. I've had two different OBs. Neither consider me high risk due to IVF. I haven't heard of any growth concerns because of it, but then again I never researched it. I've been a part of several IF support groups where many women went through IVF and no one I know has ever had this occur.

Being considered a normal pregnant lady doesn't take away then IF fears, it hasn't for me either pregnancy. It's hard to be positive sometimes, I completely understand. Good luck to you and your friend!

Both of my twins began to show signs of IUGR between 31-34 weeks and were under 5lbs at birth (36w). In early 3rd tri, their placentas were grade 3, so it wasn't a huge shock they weren't getting the nutrients they needed. Despite that diagnosis, no one thinks the issue was related to IVF. They were twins and I have an autoimmune disease that is correlated with low birth weight in babies. My RE, OB, and MFM all stressed that IVF does not make your pregnancy high risk. And, from what I've read, there's thought that the infertility diagnosis is the cause for some of the fetal issues discussed, not the treatment itself.

I know it is BEYOND hard to feel like a normal pregnant woman, but you really are! Best wishes to you!

With my second baby I was 35 and she was a FET, so OB classified me as high risk and had me do a growth scan at 32 weeks. I thought it was a little silly since my pregnancy was so normal, but all OBs are different. I did not have a growth scan with DD1, but we had lots of extra ultrasounds earlier due to other issues.

The only extra testing I have ever had as a result of an IVF pregnancy was a Fetal Echo Cardiogram, because my practice said that there is some evidence that IVF causes a greater chance of heart issues - but no solid proof.

My OB pretty much dismisses that I am an IVF pregnancy from the moment I come in for my first appointment. With both pregnancies I have brought them all of the paperwork from the RE and they barely look at it.

I had growth scans with both my pregnancies from IVF and FET. The first one was because I had gestational diabetes and the second was because my baby had a two blood vessel cord instead of three. Neither conditions were related to IVF.

Never had any growth scans, just delivered a 9 pound 1.2 oz baby three weeks ago.  Definitely no growth issues lol.  I had no clue I was having a 9 pounder, maybe a growth scan would have been nice to give me a heads up!

I delivered with a birthing center. Birthing centers are very careful about referring out anything above low risk. i didn't have another u/s after my AS at 17/18 weeks. My DD arrived at 38w at 7lb, 14oz. Geez...if she had she gone 40 weeks?? Or past due?? Yikes!

@ruthie04 it's right on about it often being the underlying cause of IF that is what can make the pregnancy high risk (immune diseases, misshaped ute, etc).

I think that sometimes OBs play it extra safe with IF patients since we tend be more concerned from the struggle with IF.

My IVF baby was not considered high risk and we had no growth issues
