Upper back pains

At my last doctors appointment she said it was probably either gas or heartburn. I'm not really sure on what to do since this is my first pregnancy. Ive taken a Tums and Tylenol, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?

Re: Upper back pains

  • Have you tried using a heating pad?

  • I had my mid-back adjusted at work yesterday. I'm feeling a million times better. I recommend seeing a chiropractor.

Also, the daily symptom thread might be a better place to find more support/advice!
  • Ah, I feel your pain!
I had a laparoscopic surgery (they fill your belly with gas to bloat it, helps them see all the goods better) and afterwards, I was in so much pain that I couldn't even lay down and breathe properly without crying. Gas is a terrible thing.
What helped me was heating pads, rest with my head elevated with a couple pillows and massages. Time for your SO to step up. ;)

  • I have this sometimes feels like I'm having a heart attack. The only thing that helped me was a warm shower. Maybe BC it relaxes me. Liquid antacids help a bunch
  • Gall bladder as possible culprit. Make a good log and see if certain things trip it off.

  • Are you drinking plenty of fluids?  That sort of sounds like possible bladder/UTI infection.  Maybe keep an eye on it.

Chugging water tends to be the answer for a lot of symptoms so try that.

  • I was having upper back pain too, especially in the evening. Maybe it's muscular-skeletal cause everything is growing/expanding, like the ribs which is connected to mid back. I second seeing a good chiropractor. One that is experienced with pregnancy!
Also gentle yoga stretches approved for pregnancy are always nice. :)
Maybe also when you are sitting support yourself with a pillow in your lower back. Ice is always good too, on and off.
    Good luck.
