I had one but it was towards the end of my pregnancy to test for lung maturity, so a little different. The procedure itself was quick and basically painless. I felt a pinch when they put the needle in but it didn't hurt. After, I was monitored for about half an hour for contractions.

I did around 24 weeks- it was a little scarier than I thought bc I think friends I asked who had one before were playing it down for me so I wouldn't be scared. Or maybe it really was totally fine for them. But I was just nervous and it was a little more of a "jab" than I was expecting, and I didn't realize I would cramp (slightly) for a few days after.
