How far is too far for your OB?

Just curious what you ladies think. I'm 40 FTM 7w1d expecting twins, work for a hospital and am moving an hour away so my commute will be an hour but I was planning on using my OB and high risk OB thru hospital since I'm in the area all the time for work plus will have no out of pocket expenses with insurance. Should I be finding one near home 'just in case' or is it ok to have one that far away from home but near where I work? Could use your insight and opinions!

I'm only 9w3d (FTM), so can't give too much advice in this area. BUT I've had 2 bleeding episodes this week (scary as sh*t, but ended up being fine), and it was a relief to be ~15 min to my OB. It took 2 hrs to get in the 1st time, and she couldn't identify the bleed. But with the 2nd episode, I was able to get in right away, and my NP was able to find the source of the bleeding.

So, I do think there is a benefit of being close, esp being a FTM with multiplies. Just my 2 cents-- I could be the paranoid IF-brain anomaly though! GL with whatever you decide

My OB, MFM, and hospital were all in the same business park area an hour and ten minutes from my house.  There just simply aren't any high level NICUs or High Risk OBs for about an hour in any direction of where I live (downside to living in the country ;-)).  It was a pain in the butt for the weekly and twice weekly appointments at the end, and I actually ended up needing someone to drive with me most of the time because I would get too tired to drive that much and do the long appointments.  But I loved the providers and the care I received, so I don't regret it one bit.  Just know what your nearby options are or what the plan would be in case of different levels of emergency.
