Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Flu and nursing

I unfortunately came down with the flu, Type A, (first time ever in my life).  I nurse my daughter and she will be 6 months old next weekend.  Has anyone been lucky enough to have the flu and NOT give it to their LO.  Looking for positive stories!
Thanks,

Re: Flu and nursing

  • Just keep nursing and wash your hands alot. If you can nurse and hand baby off to your DH or someone else to keep limited contact. Your breastmilk will deliver alot of antibodies to her.
  • I had the flu about 2 weeks ago, and my lo managed to make it out without getting it. I breastfed a ton, and kept my hands washed and refrained (mostly anyway) from kissing up her face.
