TTC after 35

What are we reading?

With the weekend coming up and I have no real plans I will be reading a lot.
I am dying to start the fourth book in the outlander series. Has anyone read the entire series. I'm loving it so far.
Right now I'm reading one of the novels that is an off shoot from outlander. It's good but I'm itching to just start the fourth book.

So tell me what you are reading or would like to start reading.

Re: What are we reading?

  • I don't have time to sit and read.  I used to listen to audiobooks during my hellish commutes.  But now SO drives me I have him to keep me company.  I do have a book I want to start though. I may try to get a couple hours in this weekend.  The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.  I haven't read any of the Outlander seris.

  • I started the second in the Outlander series but got distracted and haven't finished it yet! I also still have to read the last Game of Thrones book. And I have a ton of books downloaded from bookbub for free that i'll give a spin to. I think I'm going to pick up the new Patrick Rothfuss book though (even though it is kind of a side-story) and read that next.

  • The Shred Diet book.... I'm using these next 2 or so months on the bench to get back to taking care of myself.  We'll see how this works out!

Ladies, I'm still on the 2nd 50 Shades of Grey book.  It took me a year to read the first one.
    I know, I shouldn't advertise that!

  • @happyktmom I hated the fifty shades of grey series. I did read them to see why everyone was making a big deal about but I found her repetitive writing very unentertaining.

@WinoGrrl‌ I loved all the GOT books, I read them all over one summer.
The second outlander book is slow going in the beginning but gets really good at the end so just keep reading.

@sonpetitlapin‌ I hope you get to start your book. I get to read for an hour while I ride the bike at the gym. Makes it less torturous.

@Cupcakegal930‌ good for you on getting healthy. I lost 35 lbs this past year and it's the best thing I have ever done. Just stay focused on it and you can do it!!!!

  • @hooligans4‌ I'm right there with you on the 50 shades series. She is not a great writer! It took about a year to read all 3 because of the writing.
I want to read the Outlander books because I like the show more than I thought I would. Do they keep your interest?

  • hmm, I don't know anything about the Outlander series. I need to check that out. Since I have to read so much young adult fiction, it's hard for me to get through my own book choices.  But currently I'm into this book called A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I picked it up at the library (go me being frugal).  It's engaging, but I don't know if I'd call it literature.
The last adult book I read was The Lowland by Jumpha Lahiri.  I couldn't put it down.
    50 shades, I tried. Couldn't do it.

  • I am reading Deep Dark Down - it's the story of the Chilean miners trapped a few years ago. Highly recommend it.

Been trying to decide if I would enjoy the Outlander series. Sounds like maybe I should give it a shot.

  • @Teenie16‌ the books are really long but I find myself reading whenever I can so I can find out what happens next. She gets lots of plot twists and side stories in because they are so long there is plenty of time. I loved the tv series. It follows the first half of the book pretty well.

@Dwmmwd‌ my friend shares all his ebooks with me or I borrow them from the library. I havnt bought a book in many years.
I will put The Lowland on my list. I do love a good book!!!

@dolphin012‌ give outlander a try, you won't regret it.
