Yes babies moving is normal. I wouldn't be concerned unless you DON'T feel movement. I'm thrilled everytime my baby goes crazy and makes me pee on myself or is hurting my ribs with her kicks because I'm on bed rest while leaking amniotic fluid. Them moving and going crazy is just a sign they're healthy and fine. Don't worry about something you don't need to. Look up kick counting and always talk to your doctor if you have a concern.
what @seamonster said. Normally extra movement is perfectly fine. However, if it's really atypical and you're concerned, it's best just to call the doc. According to the 'count the kicks' guidelines there are some instances where that atypical extra movement could be a sign of distress. If the activity levels have already gone back to normal than in my opinion there's already absolutely nothing to worry about, but I'm not a docdoc.
So a pick up of movement that last awhile can actually be a sign of distress on baby?! I've never heard of that and my OB has always said a pick up in movement or alot of movement is good. I learn something new everyday!
The fact that Bumpies can't agree if too much movement could be negative or not is exactly why medical questions that could possibly be harmful to baby should not be asked here, and people need to trust and rely more on their medical professionals.
It isn't anything against anybody trying to help, apparently not trying to help makes us mean bullies, but c'mon, how many times do we have to go over that we don't have medical degrees?
God forbid, but if any of these, "what about my swelling, blood pressure, bleeding, pain" etc. posters has something go terribly wrong because they listened to us and not their doctor, it would be a horrific event. And I'm not saying don't ask if anybody has been there and wants to share their stories after you have phoned your doctor/midwife, but make him/her be the immediate go to for these things.
I really do hope everybody has a safe and uneventful rest of their pregnancy and delivery, and no white knight needed here as this is not attacking anybody, but is more of a sincere concern for the well being of all of our unborn children. As somebody that has an angel baby, I don't want to see our list grow.
you could have eaten something he isn't used too. One night when hubby and I went to the movies we shared a Mr Pibb. Which I thought nothing about b/c we used to do that with every move prepregnancy. However, that was the first one I had since I'd been pregnant. Well my LO literally kicked me all night! Which is very uncharacteristic of him. The caffeine and sugar was just more than his little body was used too.
I'm noticing the baby is getting bigger and stronger, so it may not be MORE movement I'm feeling, I'm just more aware of it and it now borderlines on painful. Just something else to consider...
Re: Increased movement at 36 1/2 weeks
When my baby gets active, I say she is testing the walls for weak spots.
