  • What are they telling you when you go to L&D?

I had this around 24 weeks. No explanation. It became so severe I also went to L&D, which only served to rule out imminent problems (thank god) but also left me feeling stupid as a first time mom.

  • What did your doctor say?

  • It could be a number of things including ligament pain..... I would definitely follow up with your OB to find out the possible cause. I hope the pain stops for you soon.

I had some issues I dont know if they are the same or not. Mine are usually when I wake up because I have to pee. I asked my doctor he said for me its usually a sign of dehydration. I started drinking more water than I already was.. doesnt happen half as frequently. Good luck!
  • I have also been getting pains in my lower right abdomen. Usually it's associated with when I'm speed walking, so I always just think of it as cramps. Sometimes it's right before bed, even when walking very slow, so I always just convince myself it's post-dinner cramps.
  • I've been getting sharp pains in my lower right abdominal muscles. Doc says it's because they are stretching and I might have overworked them now and then.
  • I know exactly what you're feeling. Well I think I do.. I had the same issue. I had ovarian cyst prior to finding out about the baby but I've always had those come and go. When I started experiencing pain on my right side I was worried that I could be having cysts again. And then came the Braxton hicks contractions. At my next appt I asked and my obgyn said it's normal I had no cyst and most women experience that right side pain. The contractions are just our body practicing for the big day. Hope that helped! But like always let your doctor know!
  • You need to poop. I know. I know. Tmi. But you need to take some prune juice or colace. The pain is on the right side because of how your colon and intestines line up. Third pregnancy and I know this pain all too well. Even if you're pooping a little each day, pregnancy really slows things down and backs it up. Do what it takes to poop ASAP. And make it a good one or two.

    Sorry for the graphic-ness!

    Agreed ^
  • No....that's bad isn't it? You should probably call a doctor?
  • This is my first so I was not sure what contractions felt like but two weeks ago I was having severe severe pain in my right side like your explaining. I thought it may had been contractions so I went into the ER (it was the weekend) and they did a stress test and I was not having contractions but I did find out that I had a severe UTI/kidney infection which was the cause of the pain. I had had this UTI back since week 8 and now am at 22 weeks and didn't realize I still had it. Anyway make sure you don't have a UTI!
  • Im 23 weeks and having similar symptoms, no contractions though. My pain is my lower left side of my back and left groin area, i went to the doctors and they checked me & the baby out & did a urine test for infections. She said its pulled ligaments in the groin area from turning over in bed too fast or poor body movement when doing things & ofcourse muscles will take time to heal. Ive been using a heating pad like the drs suggested but it doesn't help much. I cant get comfortable in any position, let alone get some sleep -_-
    Feel better!
  • If you have been having these pains why not call your OP. We can't tell you what's going on and was this a question or a comment or a vent ... what was it .. you didn't say much as in why you were posting this.
  • I have pain in my groin-inner thigh area and more so on the right side. I asked my doctor and she said it's due to all the stretching taking place and pressure of the added weight. It seems to bother me more so at night, when trying to shift positions while sleeping. I'm currently 24 weeks, but started experiencing this at around 20 weeks. It feels almost like a pulled muscle. Does anyone else feel this? It's a little hard to explain.
  • No, go to the doctor...
  • Sometimes people post on here when the dr isn't in the office for peace of mind.
  • Duno why ur having it-possibly ligaments but they should have told u really.call and ask when ur ob is in.and those of u been rude..really?! Just stfu if uv nothin good to say!

Also do not feel stupid!! You are not the first or the last FTM or even STM who will have worries about things of this nature. It's normal to worry about something as this when your pregnant. I hope the pain has gotten better! If you are ever in question don't hesitate to call your OB or go to the ER if they aren't available. They are used to it! Trust me! It's better to be safe than sorry is what I say!
