We went for our 20w yesterday and were told that our baby has a slightly dilated kidney. At first, she made it seem perfectly normal but then she mentioned downs and made it seem like a very big problem.
We had originally refused the Harmony test but changed our minds due to this finding. I'm supposed to see a high risk doctor tomorrow but am second guessing myself as I've read most babies fix the issue on their own and would rather not drag this out any longer than necessary.
Any other moms experienced this? What was your next step? Outcome? TIA
Re: Dilated Kidney
It actually is very common and most of the time it clears up before the baby is born. Ultrasounds also aren't always very clear either. If it doesn't clear up then your baby will be put on antibiotics to reduce infection risk and be monitored up until a year and then have a small surgery then to correct it.
I was told to get an ultrasound after my DD was born. We did it at the hospital and it was all gone. We were so grateful for it because I had worried about it for the last half of pregnancy. I hope it will all go well for you too and try not to worry about it too much.
