TTC After a Loss

Conception after loss...question

Good morning everyone! I hope those of you that had a 3 day weekend were able to take a chance to relax and take a breath before another work week with the added anxiety of TTC. I intro'd onto this board a week or two ago now and just as a refresher, I have been benched by my doc for 2 months before trying again. With this new journey of mine I have begun to use the FF app and will soon begin to chart. As I have learned from you awesome women (!) on this board, the FF is a guestimate for the most part for when to expect O and that charting will be able to give me the best idea of when to expect it. So my scenario...FF guesses that since my MC happened around Jan 1 this past weekend would have been to expect O. DH and I found ourselves in the heat of the moment and without any BC. Has anyone found themselves in a situation like this (if FF is right) and found that they did become pregnant right after a MC? I am not looking to rush into it right away (as much as I would like to) as I would like to follow the doctors orders and let my body heal but as I am sure you can all agree with me when the moment hits and you've got baby on the brain, BC is the last thing you am reaching for...

Thoughts/comments/words to ease the anxious mind are all welcome!

Thank you
:)

  • I am sure there are others that got pregnant after a m/c, with some happy endings and some that were not so happy.  I agree that you need to give your body some time to heal and definitely get some BC so you don't end up with this situation again.  You need to follow your doctor's orders and wait 2 cycles.  Now, that doesn't mean you can't start charting and temping, but you can't DTD without BC and still be following your doctor's orders.

It's also not uncommon to have messed up cycles after a m/c, so just because FF says that you should O doesn't mean that your body's at a good place to do that yet.  In other words, don't assume that you've O'd and have more unprotected sex.

I'm very sorry for your loss.  Welcome.

  • Thank you all for the responses so quickly and for the tough love. It is needed and greatly appreciated. I have no one close to me in my personal life who has gone through something like this and it is difficult to discuss topics like this with them. I did not consider that I was not being honest with myself. My mind is cloudy with visions of bottles and blankies.
  • We are here for you to talk to about these types of things. I also had no one to talk to in my personal life, no one that understood. All these wonderful ladies helped me and I hope you find the same comfort and support as I did.
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • I just wanted to add, with both my losses, FF just did a guess based on what my previous cycles were.  If you have not had your first post loss period, then anything FF tells you doesn't really mean anything because it can take awhile for your first period to come.  In the future, some condoms by the nightstand would be best.

  • I myself miscarried Jan 2nd, at 5weeks 1 day.  It was my first pregnancy and first cycle off birth control. We've been told to wait at least 3 months to try again.  However we've not really done anything to prevent another pregnancy.  This past Friday night/Saturday morning I started getting really bad headaches, nausea (and dry heaving, spitting up some stomach acid... tmi sorry!!). Since Saturday I've been constantly nauseous, absolutely exhausted and still experiencing light headaches and more frequent urination (and now starting to get a sensitive sense of smell!)  Following ovulation December 10th I had all of these same symptoms and 2 weeks later got the positive test.. I'm scared that I could be again, but at the same time excited because the hubby and I are ready to start a family.  I'm not sure what to think. I'm not even sure if I've ovulated this month (been watching CM and haven't seen any EWCM this month.) Not sure what else could be causing these same symptoms! Anyone else experience anything similar?
  • I had a D&C back in sept.My doctor told me to wait 1 cycle before trying again. Only so that if you were to conceive, they would be able to pinpoint a date to measure how far along you are and to make sure the pregnancy is progressing as it should.
