Advice needed - Husband traveling for 2 weeks

Hi all.  I have scheduled my self into a problem.  DS1 (22 months) gets his bath at 7 or 730 and then books and bedtime by 730 or 8.  DS2 (4 months) nurses at 630 or 7 and then goes to bed by 7 or 730.  Usually, DH occupies DS1 while I am nursing DS2 and putting him to bed.  The DH takes care of DS2 if he wakes during DS1's bath time (it is not a quiet bath time and the bathroom shares a wall with DS2's bedroom).

Next week, DH has to travel for work for 2 weeks and I am on my own.  I am looking for advise on how to get DS2 to sleep and DS1 bathed and to sleep.  DS1 will not sit quietly in the baby's room while I put him down and if DS2 is crying, DS1 is very insistent that we go comfort "his baby".  The last time DH traveled for work (just 2 days), I tried taking DS2 into the bathroom with me and then holding him when I read to DH1, but he just screamed the whole time. No one fell asleep until 9pm.

My MIL lives and hour and 20 mins away.  My parents are in another state and are pretty hands off grandparents anyway.

  • By that age I bathed them together. Then got them dressed together. Then I held the baby while I read to the toddler, put the toddler to bed, and then nursed the baby and put him to bed. If the toddler wasn't ready for bed I would have her watch tv with me while I nursed the baby and put the baby down.

I don't think there is a way to guarantee no crying. But IMO it is way easier to do one bath time versus doing everything separately.

  • My husband is out of town as well! I have a friend staying with us in case i crash and burn but have asked her not to help unless i ask ( i want to prove to myself i can do this!)

Anyways oldest takes bath first and then "Helps" give brother a bath. if DS2 wont sit through a book once bath time is done put him down first and then DS1 since DS2 shouldnt be crying!?
