Just to follow up on the Bump Anarchy thread...it seems like there is a consensus that we want to keep the group together.  Since there are a few people who said they probably wouldn't want to jump to another board, most people seem not to care much either way, and those that would rather not be on TB seem willing to stick around for the sake of this board, it seems like the easiest way to please everyone is just to stay where we are.  If anyone thinks differently, please let us know!  And if there's anyone who is going to leave TB for good regardless of what this board does, please post a "goodbye" post so we know you're leaving and so people who want to do so will have the opportunity to find another way to connect with you.

I contacted one admin and then that admin apparently was deleted and so then I contacted a few more...I wasn't notified of any changes and then was happy in our warm little group so I don't know what the hoopla was about or when it started. I am working on getting some answers.

I don't NEED to be a moderator but I feel like we do NEED someone with the ability to clean up posts and delete things when needed.

I'll keep everyone posted if I hear anything new...

Thanks fot the update.  There used to be mod after your name and now it says member so I was wondering if they appointed someone new.  I think you do great job as mod so I hope you get to stay one.

I'm not sure how I feel about being affiliated with the bump any longer...it makes me feel a little icky and the board is so disorganized right now. I'm not saying I'm leaving right now but I've checked out the other board and it feels even more disorganized to me. If we had a FB group would people be willing to migrate there? Just a thought...throwing it out there...I'm feeling lost...I don't like it.

We are a bunch of smart people with a willingness to put time and energy into staying a strong community -- why don't we create our own board? I have NO idea what that entails, but I am willing to look into it and teach myself if other folks have interest... it can't be THAT hard, right?

Am I that dumb? Did I just propose some kind of start up venture? HAHA

I am not opposed to a facebook group because most of the participants on this group have been around for so long that I wouldn't be uncomfortable being friends with them via facebook.  Would a group on FB make it difficult to keep up our weekly discussions however?  If it becomes the general agreement to migrate elsewhere just keep me posted as to where we are migrating to.  I would miss the community if it just disappeared.  Even though I don't post daily I am always checking in.

This happened with the old group -- I still belong to a private FB group with most of the old members of this board, and there is not a lot of action (we will often go months without a post).  There isn't a good way to have the type of discussions we normally have, and there are obviously no new members coming in.  There has also been some drama at times over who should and shouldn't be added to the group -- not everyone is comfortable with the same group of people.

I've been on The Bump for 8? 9? years and on the Knot for 5y years before that. I was here during the last mass exodus when this board migrated to another board. It was active for awhile, but people started dropping off just due to natural attrition and losing interest and there wasn't any new blood to reinvigorate it since no one could find it. It's been dead for awhile. I know other boards on that site are still up and going though. We tried a spin off FB group with the same results (people pop in to check in every one in awhile, but FB isn't really the same as a board and the functionality makes it a challenge for people to follow multiple threads.)

Okay, so I just started a FB group. It is currently private. I added anyone on FB that I am friends with from this group. I like KH's idea of starting our own board but I know NOTHING about that. The FB group can serve as a place holder if nothing else. Just wanted a temporary fix for those that are "running". I really don't want to lose this group. If anyone is interested in joining go ahead and PM me! Like I said I am not leaving here yet, but I also don't want to lose anyone who is still around and thinking of going. :-( I like you guys too much!

I'll weigh in. I'm on the other board and while it takes getting used to, after a week I'm already pretty savy. I don't like that my points are at 30! But one must start again. The other board isn't private. They are new LGBT members who have joined since last week.
As for the FB group, I'm torn. As you all know I hardly ever post pic of R and never of my wife or I. It's not that I don't trust you who post regularly, it's the ones who lurk and I have no idea who they are or their intentions. With a FB group, I'd only be comfortable if it's private and new members were screened. I keep my own FB page locked down like Fort Knox so it's not just the Bump but more my own comfort level.

I personally don't think a FB group is a viable alternative to the style of communication we have here and agree that it absolutely does not lend itself to new members.  Additionally, though some folks may feel comfortable with others having access to the personal info that is available on FB, there are others that won't.  And, my biggest concern right now is doing anything that would stop this group from growing.  I hate to think of people in the LGBT community who at some point will need this safe space and won't be able to find us.  This is not an argument to stay; it's just something that I think we need to consider as part of the ultimate decision.

I've gone on the other site to check it out, but I've only done so through a mobile browser, not the app and I haven't set up an account.  It's not as nice looking as it is here, but doesn't look completely horrible. I'm wondering if the new members @karlamo is referring to are other folks who were already members of TB, jumped shipped for another board, and then found the LGBT forum?  Or are you talking about people completely new?  That's what I'm worried about.  Leaving those folks behind.  

I'll try some google searches and see what comes up.

I don't plan on leaving here. I've been lurking on the other site the last few days and I'm just not a fan. TB feels like home and I like our weekly check-ins and the all around flow here. I have been active on this board for a year and I'm really sad that most people are leaving.

You can have a private Facebook page, but it is still searchable. I'm a part of multiple groups for foster parents that are highly monitored and private. Also you can be a part of these groups without being friends with anyone, the members will simply see your name and profile picture.

But really it makes me sad that the people who want to leave keep bringing it up.

To be honest if you want to leave please do so. But please stop trying to rally folks to leave too. You can find the people who want up stay here and your welcome here. I love many of you and will sad to see you go.

But it also creates stress and dissension to have this topic repeatedly brought up.

I'm not sure if they're new,new or old, new.

I lurked, and at least 3 of them were formerly regulars on this board at one point or another.

I certainly wasn't trying to rally anyone.  I was addressing questions people had, I thought this was a discussion.  I already said my peace and that I was out.  So I will go.

I'm sorry if I came across as too direct, that wasn't my intention.  I just know from past experience that these types of situations can cause so much disharmony that there ends up being no lasting/surviving solution.  (in that the Bump group dissolves, the other group never quite picks up - which happened before and friends and new acquaintances are lost).

I realize there are a lot of valid feelings and concerns involved and I am sorry for those that suffered. My rather "abrupt" post above was just to reach some sort of closure for today, so that we can nurture the community we have here. And for those going or deciding to be bi or multi-boardle.  (I think I just invented a phrase!! Grammar police??)  Anyway for those splitting their attentions can move onward and upward.

I hope to find some of you elsewhere and I wish everyone much love.

So far this is basically proceeding exactly as it did last time, and it really broke up the group, so it's hard to see it happen again. I don't want to speak for her but there is a part of me that just wants everyone to pick a board so we can all start over, in whatever groups we end up in.

I wasn't around last time and this is making me really anxious and sad.  And confused.  Now threads are going up on FB that are usually posted here.  If that's where folks want to settle, that's okay and I'll check-in there, but I'll admit to being a bit confused by all this.  Just tell me where to check/post and I'll do it.

I totally get what B&C is saying about picking a board... I am just worried about the people who will be lost to me entirely if I don't sort of "play the field" for a little while and see how this shakes out. I wasn't planning to check out the new board, but I lurked there and saw some activity, so I set up a profile. Right now I am everywhere, but I know I cannot sustain that long term. I just don't want to be out of touch with anyone... this stinks!

I think a lot of the break up last time was in part due to a few posters that the majority of the board did not want to be associated with. So we broke up into smaller groups that not everyone has access to.  I agree with 2Brides, that if you wall want to stay together, stay here, or go to the new site, but FB is not the same dynamic.  I hope wherever you all choose to stay you'll continue to make lasting friendships!

lol!  Yes, DD is almost 5 years old now, and I have twin boys that are 18 months old (I never bothered to change my signature over here).  And since we got the bonus baby the second time around we are absolutely done.  Now I'm just trying to figure out how the hell to ever get us out the door in the morning on time.

Congratulations on #1 (adorable siggy picture!) and hope this second pregnancy is happy and healthy.
