I am 26 weeks pregnant and have been stressed and depressed alot lately. My boyfriend and I are not getting along like we used to. And i feel like im in this alone. Will this stress affect my baby?
It's important to take time out to de stress and feel in harmony with your body and baby without stress. I have been battling anxiety attacks and taking time each day to be in nature and center myself has helped immensely.
As other people have said please talk to your doctor about this. They'll be able to offer you tons of advice and awnser all of your questions. Good luck!
I agree wholeheartedly with @saltbox40 - being under lots of stress during pregnancy isn't good for you and isn't good for baby. In fact, they've done studies that suggest that chronic stress while in utero can lead to a greater susceptibility to mental and cognitive difficulties later on.
I don't say this to be alarming. The brain is an amazing organ and stress or lack there-of while in utero is just one small piece of the puzzle of who we each become. But it's certainly worth speaking to your doctor and getting it in check, pronto.
I read somewhere that stress in pregnancy can affect your baby but the bonding after s/he is born 'makes up' for it. I was under serious stress when pregnant with DD. I barely gained weight and she was tiny (5.5 lbs). She more than made up for it. At 2y4m she's at the top of the BMI charts in percentile, almost considered overweight! That's not good either, but you get the point.

I'm really sorry you're going through a stressful time with depression and your SO. I agree with others that talking to your doctor might prove useful but in the meantime (since it's Saturday and most doc offices are closed) do you have a friend or family member you can call? Sometimes just hearing a familiar, caring voice can tie us over until a doctors appointment.
