Clinic/OB-GYN Suggestions? Mpls/West Metro

Hi Mpls/St. Paul mommies and mommies to be!  I need some suggestions on a good clinic or OB-Gyn in Mpls or the west metro area.  I haven't been to a general doctor in over 5 years, since my work has a clinic on site for all the regular stuff.  I'm quickly approaching my 1st exam, so would love to get some recommendations on where to go!

I live in Uptown, but work in Minnetonka and we may be moving to a new house in the west metro (Wayzata/Mtka/Plymouth area) over the next few months.

Do you know what hospital you want to deliver at?  Certain clinics are affiliated with certain hospitals.  I go to North Clinic in the West Health bldg off 494/55 because I plan to deliver at North Memorial.  I think Park Nicollet is affiliated with Methodist and Allina clinics are for Mercy and Unity hospitals.

I went to the University Specialists in Women's Health in Mpls, they are affiliated with the Fairview hospitals. ?I delivered at Fairview Riverside, right next door to the office (Univ Specialists are in the Riverside Professional bldg). ?I had a great team of midwives and nurses (about 15 people in all), all of the staff I encountered were great (even the receptionists!). ?I feel like my baby and I received excellent care at both facilities, and highly recommend them to everyone. ?Fairview Riverside is a teaching hospital, so they have very high standards for patient care (and great food!). ?

I've had 1 surgery and 1 baby with the Univ. Specialists and Fairview Riverside, and with both they prepared me well beforehand (they have great patient education), so I wasn't nervous when I went to the hospital. ?

If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me, I would be glad to help.

I go to Oakdale OB/Gyn and have been really happy with my care there.  I delivered my 1st child in 2006 and I am about to deliver my 2nd one with them. They use North Memorial as their hospital.  I was also happy with my care there when #1 was born.  I don't know if they offer services at any other hospital yet but they will be affiliated with the new hospital in Maple Grove which I think opens this December.

Oakdale has offices in Plymouth (West Health), Maple Grove, Brooklyn Park, and Robbinsdale...there may even be more those are just the locations I have been to.  Here is their website for more info:  www.oakdaleobgyn.com

I go to Dr. West at John Haugen and Assoc. They have three offices, I go to the one in Edina or the one in Downtown Mpls.  She is very knowledgeable and a great listener. They have privileges at Alina Northeast next to the Children's Hospital and at Fairview (I can't remember which). We are planning on delivering at Alina. They accept Medica, and others.

I just had my first prenatal visit at Fairview Riverside Women's Clinic, and I have to say, I know that I'm going to love the people there!  The receptionist was super friendly, the nurse that took my blood did THE BEST job (seriously, I didn't even feel it), and the midwife (Jill) that my husband and I spoke to was really informative and nice.  I love that the hospital that I will be delivering is right across the street as well.   Good luck!
