Weight gain

We went to the PCP today and L has only gained 1 oz in 8 days. Typically he was on target for an oz per day. He is producing wet diapers eating every 2-3 hours so I am not sure what has happened over the past week. He doesn't act hungry. The dr doesnt seem concerned he said since he has been gaining so well we will worry in another 2 weeks if he hasnt gained much. Just seems like a very laid back attitude about the lack of weight gained. Anyone else have any experience with this?

I don't know how much my LO gains per day/week. Do you weigh your LO often or just at appointments?

At appts. He had his 2 mth check up on 1/8. He gained 1 lb from 12/24. We were there on 12/15. Between 12/15-12/24 he gained 9 oz. So between 1/8-1/16 to only gain 1 oz seems like a dramatic difference.

We had a 5oz gain in two weeks once. The doctor said it was low, but to wait until the next appoitment To see if it continued. The next appointment he gained a pound. I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues

No experience, just curious where you LO is percentile wise?

At one appointment myLO had only gained an ounce and the doctor was very laid back about it too. At the next appointment she had gained a whole pound. i wouldn't worry unless the weight gain doesn't pick up eventually or if LO loses weight.

Babies plateau, and probably shouldn't be weighed weekly for that reason. It causes such unneeded stress when the baby is really just balancing out :). Please don't worry!! I just went through this too and my LC is the one who told me exactly what I wrote above. I'll bet your LO will have a better gain at your next weigh in (and if he doesn't, you figure out an action plan). As long as he is still producing wet/dirty diapers and you are letting down while he feeds and he isn't fussier than usual, then he's more than likely absolutely fine

My baby grows in spurts. Like a pound in one ,week and then an oz the following week.

Thanks everyone! And to just add to my worries my MIL just found out she has walking pneumonia and she watched L for 1 hour on Monday. Why she came over without telling me she wasnt feelong well is beyond me. And of course L has taken two 3 hr naps today which he never does and is falling asleep while eating. Again he never does. Paranoia at an all time high. Im moving us into a bubble.
