Having babies over 40...

I had my first baby at 39 and I'm contemplating baby 2. I have no other children and I want my son to have someone when he gets older and we're gone. We would start trying when my LO is 10 months if we decide to try. I'd be 41 at next babies birth. And just to put it out there my first pregnancy was very easy-I know I got lucky.

This is the October 2014 Board. It means we all had babies in October of 2014. Did you have a baby in October?

Also, like, who are you?

Think about The Bump like a bar. Would you go up to a stranger and say what you just said? Or would you introduce yourself? I'm curious.

You don't. But you have to admit--this is a weird statement to start a new thread about. Especially when none of us understand what we're supposed to do with it. Tell you you got lucky? We don't know if you even had a question. We're just confused, man.

So I read the title "Having babies over 40" and I'm like, That's a long fucking time to be pregnant. I can't believe I bitched about 36 weeks and some change.

Part of me wants to say we are one and done because I will be almost 40 before the 2nd child. But then I think it's important for LO to have a sibling. I think DH though is happy with only one child. I agree with PP maybe try the over 35 board. There is a pregnant over 35 board and the women there were really nice and may have a better perspective.

OP, your original post had nothing to do with babies born in O14, and you didn't even mention that you have a baby born in O14 until asked. Your first post sounded like you just randomly found this board via Google and asked a bunch of strangers a question, and we had no idea why you chose to ask us that question.

I believe you can now go up to 42 weeks gestation.

I almost posted something on their thread. Talk about a hen house. In their day, they walked 10 miles to school each way, barefoot, and in the snow. And all the youngsters knew something about respecting their elders.

She said that she "asked an opinion." I don't see any questions being asked at all in the original post. She would have gotten a lot more responses if she had a clear question or request for opinions. Instead it was a post of statements.

Yeah, what bothers me is the whole "kids having kids" bit. Probably wouldn't be so funny to OP if if I commented that I'm over "grannys having kids".

**I do not actually think someone who is over 40 is a granny. Just making a point about OP's ageism.**

If only she knew how many of us are >30yo, the education level, support provided by, and the intelligence of our ladies.  I love posts like this because the OP is saying much nastier things about us (right, weirdos?) than as ever said to her in this thread.  She was unable to introduce herself, or even convey what she wanted to discuss or why she posted on a birth month board in the first place, but we are the weirdos, nasty, etc. etc.....  And at least we are talking about her to her "face" (in her thread), rather than doing so the equivalent of behind her back (like on other boards).

She keeps coming back to check on us, which, frankly, I think is weird. So, I kinda just want to bury the thread. If she wants to come back and introduce herself and participate before saying how lucky she is to have gotten pregnant (when many women that age or even much younger cannot), she'll see that this board is probably one of the most welcoming ones here.

Like, really, newbs get away with murder around here.
