Spaghetti Sauce (you suck!)

Talk to me about how to get this out of clothing.

Within the past few month we have had to say goodbye to many cute pieces of clothing that have fallen victim. I try EVERYTHING. Cold water, oxy clean, dish detergent, laundry detergent on the spots, shout.... You name it. Nothing works.

Anyone have a good remedy? (please say yes!?)

I do, but it involves my grandmother's homemade soap which has lard and a crap ton of lye in it. But it gets everything out. 

My MIL insists that Dawn dish soap gets everything out, haven't tried it personally.

Lastly if any of your clothes are white try sun bleaching them. It works on cloth diaper stains, maybe on other white clothes too?

I've read a lot about the blue dawn lately. I haven't tried it but it's supposed to be amazing. I would think it would be good for spaghetti sauce because it's so greasy.

Alcohol gets makeup and marker out of cloth.

Yes, I would try blue dawn to get the grease out.  Then while it's wet, put it in the sun.

I know that pouring boiling water over it will get out blueberry, blackberry, etc. stains.  Have you tried that?

Try a soap bar called fels naptha! It's sometimes hard to find in store. I have a CVS near me that carries it. You might have to order it online though. I found it when DD's poopy diaper blowouts were staining all her clothes and I couldn't get them out. It works wonders for all stains.

Sometimes if the stain is still pretty fresh, dove soap will work for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. I put cold water on it. The dish detergent. (No dawn - but Palmolive with oxy clean) and then stain stick and will leave it for a day or so before adding laundry detergent....and then washing. Ugh. I swear - doing laundry in this house is like a job in itself with all the pre work I have to do to try and save clothes!

I have no great advice other than I now strip the boy down for anything tomato or blueberry based. I have also come to realize that most people expect toddlers to be somewhat stained and try not to give myself grief if he wears an outfit that I couldn't get something out of. GL with the above suggestions though!

@kaf7 - I do the same thing with the strip down!!!! And I'm sending pasta of any type to daycare for lunch I make sure I send her in dark clothes. Hahah. Unfortunately Thursday night she was with my sister in law....and wearing a cute white top (with little shoes and boes on it and btw - oxy clean works wonders on blueberries.....takes them right out!

Great suggestions! I am clueless when it comes to stains and most things laundry. I never would have thought of Dawn.
