TTC After a Loss

Please...Chart Help!

This is my first month charting. I feel obsessive and it all over the place. Before our loss in November, my cycles averaged around 35 days, so I assume I am/was O'ed late. By FF they estimate me to ovulate CD21.

For this cycle I have I taken my temp every morning at 5:00am, but the temps seem so sporadic. Now today, I have a brown spotting. What would cause this mid-cycle? I do not see a pattern of ovulation and FF hasn't identified one yet either. Can someone help me make sense of this?

  • Thank you. So your temp drops before O? I didn't know that. I learn something daily. And yes, I have been using OPKs also, however, they have all been negative.  Thank you for your advice! Appreciate it.

  • I agree with @jj32 that your temp drop this AM could be a sign that you will O soon.  Brown spotting is old blood that could just be working it's way out.  It's also possible that your cycles are still a bit wonky from your loss.  Maybe pick up an OPK and see if you get a +.  Temp can only confirm O, but can't really tell you when you are going to O.

Are you a mouth breather when you sleep?  That can affect your temps.  Some people with rocky temps have tried vaginal temps (you have to do this for the entire cycle though because they are higher) and have seen less rocky charts.  But, I honestly don't see your chart as varying too much, so I think that you will see a clear temp shift once you O.

You really have to chart for a few cycles to see your pattern.  Good luck.

I usually get a temp drop before O, but not always. I agree with PPs, ride it out. It takes a few months for FF to figure you out and things with your cycle change after a loss.

  • Thank you, I have read TCOYF but it was 5 years ago. I never charted until now, so I definitely need to brush up on my facts. I do sleep with my mouth open, so I may need to adjust how I temp. But as you ladies have suggested, I'm just going to ride it out a few months. Thanks again!!

JuneNC2008 - What brand of OPKs are you using and what time of day are you taking them?

Your temperatures will look a lot less rocky after you get a post-O temp shift. Charts always look a little crazy in the first half or your cycle, just because there's not much information to go on. Looks like you're doing a good job of charting your first cycle, though! Best of luck. :)
I'm using the Wondo and I test all throughout the day. I try to hold it for at least 2-3 hours before going. It is not possible for not to drink during the day for 4 hours. I'm thirsty all the time....

Is there another type that is better?
