Silence?

So this silence thing is silly for a few reasons. But most importantly for those of you taking this epic silent stand. You do realize that while the average reader can't see you lurking, the company can and it is generating the same type of usage that they want? And also when you end your heroic vow of silence, I am sure that you are going to flame every board possible to make up for your "absence". So what did you accomplish? A company this big doesn't care that they hurt a few egos. As you have noticed, the bump has gone on swimmingly without you. If anything you have helped attain their goal of generating more traffic. Just food for thought.

Yea so that is what it seems like. The terms were changed a few days ago and the bump went on a banning spree and banded a bunch of mods and popular women (who were also pretty brutal and could be called bullies). So now there is a group who is taking a stand and vowing silence to "show support" for their banned buddies. The people who aren't vowing silence are flaming boards and are going over the top with the bully tendencies.

Welcome! This isn't usually like this. Hopefully it settles down soon. It used to be a pretty fun place. If you go to page 3 or 4 you will find posts that are related to being prego. The first few pages are just political crap.

I think this is a really narrow view. Ladies who spend years building this site, volunteering their own free time as mods and asking nothing in return, were banned from the TB at the end of a business day without any reason. Then TB admins got really sneaky about posting a few rainbows and puppy dog comments here and there but refused to answer questions or heck, be sane and reasonable.

I get that most of the ladies that remain here are lurkers or light users at best. And you don't really grasp how much the previous regs and mods used this site. The relationships that they'd built. Heck, the babies they conceived because of the knowledge that they gained here. I know you find it lame or political. But ultimately, they had something really special here and TB unjustly crapped all over it in a brief instant.

Maybe the silences don't make sense to you. Maybe the traffic is still active, however dim the posts are. But make no mistake that what happened here was ugly, really ugly.

I understand what happened here. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I don't understand what happened. We are viewing the problem different. Just keep in mind that the page will go on with or without you and the people "who built this page". The people taking these excessive stands just look silly and immature. Obviously you're more than entitled to your opinion.

There has never been any doubt that the BMB will carry on. It's the quality of the BMB without those users and with the overshadowing the newest Bump gods is something that you might ought to consider wisely before you shrug it off. Unless you love illogical, advice less, repetitive threads.

Here's the thing, GA-whatever. You are wrong. You have absolutely no idea what happened here, so by that logic, you can't understand what happened. I would completely respect our difference of opinion, if you had been a supporting and contributing member of this community. Which, in itself is redundant, because if you were one of those members, it'd be hard to have your point of view. Most of the people who are disagreeing, are the ones who were lurking, newbs, or butthurt over the honesty that was spread on this site.

I am not silly, nor am I immature. I am somebody who stands for something. I'm proud of that, and by no means is that considered silly or immature. That title should be reserved for those who are sitting back, disagreeing with what's happening, and doing nothing. When you stand for a cause that you whole heartedly believe in, there's a lot of pride in that. Half of these women on this board wouldn't be pregnant without the help, love, and support provided by their peers. Half of these women have suffered horrible, unimaginable losses, something I hope you never have to experience, and they've gotten through with a little help from their friends. This community is a family, and it was ripped apart, with no warning, no justice, and I, along with others, will not stand for that.

So, respectfully, I disagree with you. But that's because you are wrong. You have no idea what's going on here. You think you know, but you seriously have no idea what the hell happened.

Oh, I also suggest you and your friends really look at the definition of bullying...

There are much bigger things than just the vows of silence taking place. Did you know that The Bump took down the review section on their Facebook after receiving over 400 negative reviews yesterday? Have you noticed the the App, last time I looked, is down to 2 stars? The people at Huffington Post are talking about this on Twitter. There have even been tons of complaints made to the main advertisers on The Bump's webpage. This is much more than a "silly" silence vow. 

It seems you have some serious research to do if you are fully unaware of what all is happening. Do you think that 400+ people are outraged for no reason? Have I pointed out that it is extremely rude to pass judgement on things you are uniformed about? People who have too much time on their hands and are big bullies is much easier conclusion to jump to when you are not sure what is going on, I guess.

I just wanted to add: We actually have almost 3,000 people that jumped ship and are now on our new boards.

3,000 screams louder than 400.

Many of those 3,000 have reached out to media. Many of those 3,000 are writing those who advertise on TB, many of those are protesting and boycotting those products.

Business don't shut down their reviews, respond to emails, and make personal phone calls to the protestors unless they realize it is a serious issue.

3,000 and growing. That's powerful. That's fighting for a cause.

Love the number! I was just going off of the negative reviews I saw on Facebook.

Edit: I should have known that there are probably 400 from the Parenting board alone.

The bump lost all the people that made up their most active board, by far. They are putting money in the pockets of proboards right now. I mean, a contributer of the Huffington Post noticed the shitshow, so it's not just some "silly" thing.  

FTR, I never agreed to silence. So there's that.

I guess what's most unclear is what the silence hopes to accomplish. To show how many are upset? To force changes? To get those who were banned returned? To show support for those who were banned?

I've read many comments and think it may be helpful for those who are upset to organize and maybe post with the same message so your statement is easily transparent to the mods, users, etc.

To those who think the "board ran perfectly fine without us (the regs)".. That is obviously incorrect.. Sure you got to post your baby name opinions & symptom woes & silly questions with none of us bully bitches picking on you, but unfortunately I saw several serious posts where women were in true need of support & scientific information and you know what responses they got? Crickets. Without us terrible women here to babysit the circus, women with real questions aren't getting the real answers they need. @gadawgmom YOU ARE WRONG.  This board is VERY MUCH real world, with people going through REAL WORLD problems - and some of them are the absolute toughest REAL WORLD problems people could possibly ever experience.  People on these boards have formed friendships and given support to each other and given shoulders to cry on.  These women have been there for each other through miscarriages, parenting issues, spouse issues, family issues, ANY ISSUE that someone needed help with.  After you've gone through these things with these women they are not strangers.  They are your friends.  We forge long lasting relationships, continue to provide support, meet in real life.  And THAT'S what you don't get, with your whopping 5 days of participation.  

The mere fact that you would say this clearly shows how absolutely ignorant to the cause you and every other poster questioning the "Silence" posts are.
