Pregnant after 35

Snarky thing I said to DH the other day

DS woke up at some ungodly hour for several nights in a row and had to be comforted back to sleep each time. He's 19 months and is cutting teeth. He usually wakes up when the ibuprofen wears off, then needs to get another dose and be rocked / held until it kicks in.

So, once again, he woke up at 2am (?) In my half-asleep state, I asked my husband to go take care of him. He said "But I got up with him the last 2 nights!" Without hesitation, while half asleep, I said "I got up with him every night for a year while I was breastfeeding!" And DH got up.

I have no recollection of this conversation, but....go me!

  • Heck yes, go you!!! My DH and I had an agreement with DD first time around and will renew it with this baby. I'm breastfeeding so HE gets up to change diapers.

  • I wish! My husband NEVER gets up. ever. He literally doesn't even hear crying or fussing in the night. We don't usually have to get up much now since DD is 2 and DS is 6 but occassionally if DD is teething or not feeling well.. she just won't sleep well and she'll wake up screaming. DS sometimes crawls in bed with us too if he's not feeling well.  But I'm always. 100% of the time.. the one that has to deal with it.  Drives me nuts.

  • I love that you said that to your husband and can imagine I will at some point say something similar to mine :)

(I may have already done so when after our holiday party last month or the next day after finishing the clean-up.. DH was complaining about how exhausted he was...)

  • My DH always gets up in the night for the kids. He started doing it when I was pregnant w/ #2 and now I'm on to #3 and he's still doing it. Tee-hee :)

  • My husband takes so many meds to sleep that nothing seems to wake him. I always let the dogs out or deal with their bs and he sleeps right through. Mind you I have heard him stop snoring so some days I think he's playing possum. I've begun to suspect that things won't change with a child.
