I know I don't post on here much but I thought this article was excellent. Both DH and I are only children and we are considering being OAD now that we have DS. Our own experiences have been just what was outlined in this article. We never felt deprived or lonely, we had tons of friends growing up, and most importantly, we felt like we were "enough" for our parents. In many ways, I feel like we are closer to our parents as adults now because we are onlies (this is not to say that people with siblings are not close to their parents - I just mean it made our bonds stronger). Anyway, reflection over. Thanks for the article!
