Wake up choking?

this sounds bizarre but my gf is going through the same thing. I wake up at all hours of the night choking on nothing. Sometimes it tastes like bile but mostly I just end up in a coughing fit!

Normal? I see my doc next week

I had this happen last week when heartburn/ reflux was bad. Out of the blue I woke up choking and was coughing hard to try to catch my breath. It seemed acid went up my throat and some went down my windpipe. I jumped up and ran to the bathroom trying to cough/throw up. I thought I was dying. Of course DH didn't hear a peep and slept through it all.

I've been getting coughing fits as well - I assume it's nothing big, just yet another weird pregnancy thing.

I often wake up in the middle of the night choking on excess saliva. I do have mild sleep apnea, so that could be exacerbating the problem.

Happened to me a few weeks ago, I slept propped up for the rest of the night and it helped.  Think it was acid reflux.

I've been taking medicine for my heartburn so I haven't had any acid reflux in a while. That's probably what it is tho, thanks ladies
