Cabo

Who's been to Cabo?

We're going in April.  For Valentine's Day, I want to get DH something vacation related.  An excursion, an experience, something like that, even if it's just an IOU. If you've been there, what are your must see/must do things?

With having the kids, the big thing we wanted to do (swim with whale sharks) isn't going to happen, since it's an 8 hour excursion and our come along babysitter ended up falling through, so I am open to any and all suggestions. :-)

  • We went for our honeymoon. I was last minute, like actual last minute because a hurricane hit our honeymoon location the day before our wedding!! We stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach which was beautiful and we could use their sister resort next door for free too. The sister resort, the Pacifica, does dinner on the beach with your own bed to relax in after for 3 couples a night. We lucked out and they had a cancellation one night and got us in. It was amazing!

We also road a 4 wheeler on the beach and that was really cool too. I don't know the name of the company, we booked it through our concierge.

  • Oh, and go to Lover's Beach, but that was something we just paid for on the spot. There are tons of guys with sea taxis to take you.

Here is our album, will delete this soon. We stayed on the Pacific side which is way less touristy than the Sea of Cortez area.

  • I've been a bunch of times.  It's wonderful, they love their tourism and everything is very new these days because the hurricane wiped them out.
Lovers beach is nice, definitely go.  Every available excursion or activity will be available on the main pier with dudes out there peddling them all day and night. And EVERYTHING is negotiable. If you do go fishing and catch something the hotel will likely prep and cook it for you.

If your hotel doesn't have a shuttle from the airport grab a van usually $10 a person.  The free buses make stops to buy beer and try and sell you a time share the whole ride.

This is where we're staying.  It's part of the Hacienda Encantada.

I'm going to take a bath every single day because of how big the tub is.  :-)

    @hmp1, ATV-ing looks cool!

@danabsd, is there literally anything we can take Nancy to see while we're there, or will we be just enjoying the house?

  • I don't remember how young, not Cal's age, but there were little kids on the ATV excursion because they had the big golf cart things too...forgot what they are called.

  • We honeymooned there. We stayed at Dreams resort in Los Cabos.

For a day activity, I'd recommend swimming with dolphins at Cabo Dolphins.

We did Lovers Beach one day.

And champagne & couples massages on the beach.

Ok I am cringing at this van rec only bc we had a scary experience. Obviously you've been there more times than me & it was probably fine, but...

We had a pre-arranged shuttle with American Express travel. All our documentation from our travel agent advised us to be warned of random people at the airport trying to giving us rides. We were thankful for that bc the airport was so chaotic. At one point mh & I split up to find the AmEx booth & some guy tried to lure me away saying he was from AmEx when he wasn't. When he saw MH walking back to me, he was like, "oh you're with him?" and jetted!

  • That place looks amazing! I've yet to go with kids but I have a friend who's MIL has a house there and she takes her kids yearly. I asked her for some recs. :)

How scary bosha! I mean it is Mexico so although Cabo is very safe you do have to be careful.
