time donation question

So I work with some amazing people who are donating some of their sick time to me since I don't have a full 12 weeks saved. My question is what do I do for them? Should I get them a gift, just send a thank you, something else? The generosity is so overwhelming and I feel like just saying thank you isn't exactly enough.

Maybe you could by gift cards and put them in thank you cards. That's really nice/generous of your co-workers!

If it's a few people giving a lot of days, maybe a small gift. If it's a lot of people giving a day or two, consider sending breakfast to the office one day with a nice card (bagels, muffins, coffee, etc) so you can thank everyone without going broke.

I second the gift cards.  If you can may them personal to each person -- i.e. you know so and so likes Starbucks, but another likes to get things on Etsy.  Just a thought, but it is super nice of them to do that!

Nice you get to know who donated to you! I work for the state and we are not allowed to know who donated time to us. I would just write a thank you note.

If your company allows it, yes. We have an employee who has been fighting a brain tumor/ cancer. Our company allowed people to donate their unused sick/ vacation days to help her out.

At my old job, you could. I think I had over 300 hours left before I quit and couldn't even burn through all of it, so I donated some.

I work for my local county and we are fortunate to have a leave donation policy. The only stipulation is that the donor has to have 120 of sick time left after they donate. I vow to pay it forward when i build my time back up by giving back every hour of time to someone else who needs it.

I so wish we had something like this at my company.  I've taken one sick day (out of 8 available per year) in 5 years, and wish someone who needed them could have used them.

definitely cards and cater breakfast or lunch for them one day - great group gift/gesture without being cheesy and less work on you running around getting gift cards for everyone
