Pain from Poor Posture!!

Hi. I have been having horrible aches and pains today..I honestly felt stiff it was so uncomfortable. I sat here thinking to myself "WTF is wrong with me??" I don't feel feverish or sick, but so achy...arms, legs, back and neck. So, I decided to run a hot bath with some Epsom salts (thank God baby is sleeping), took some Ib Profun and sat there and I started putting the two and two together: I carry LO all day, BF on demandand and I don't have the best posture while doing so..maybe that's causing the pain??

Well, it turns out that the two and two are definitely correlated. Here are two articles that I found interesting.

The first article is this one https://www.connectionparenting.com/parenting_articles/hold.html
and it is relevant because really the only solution to the problem is to use better posture and learn how to properly wear little one. LO is 8 wks and I'm home until May, so I've got time.

The second link:
https://www.babble.com/body-mind/avoid-heavy-lifting-injury/
is written by a physical therapist who talks about the medical condition associated with poor posture while carrying baby and his/her's equipment all day.

I just thought if anyone else is having some aches and pains lately that you can't really explain, this is probably the culprit. I'm also starting Pilates in my den tomorrow. That always helps with lower back pain.

Going to bed now!

  • Sorry you're having pain. I am too, but it's all upper back. I have horrible posture and breastfeeding and carrying around a little one, definitely isn't helping.

  • Holding Pips gives me serious sway back sometimes. I feel like the old nag at the barn. Back pain sucks.

  • I've had bad posture as soon as I as I delivered and my body became a foreign shape. Then cuddling a baby, pumping, carrying around heavy blobs in nursing bras, I've been a mess of back pain. Baby sleeping on me always helps with a flare up!
  • I feel like ever since birth my back has not recooperated. I had pretty bad back labor. I'm looking into seeing a chiropractor.

My chiro has saved me a couple of times from being in sheer misery. Between the pregnancy stress on my spine, labor and delivery, and my bad posture, I've been struggling with back pain since LO arrived. I'd definitely suggest finding a good chiro! And of course better posture ;-)
  • My back has been a world of hurt for weeks. My kiddo just wants to be carried while he is upright against your chest. He can tell when you stop moving, sit down or put him in the same position in a carrier- he usually cries until you stand back up with him. It's a good workout but my back has not adjusted!
