Pregnant after 35

7 weeks today! Anyone else feel very irritable?

Happy to have made it to 7 weeks.. I know that sounds strange but I am ultra concerned since am 43 and had m/c a couple of years ago.
But I am doing well not thinking about it too much and not worrying. The mantra that our bodies are designed to give birth helps!
Very few symptoms still.  Just lack of appetite and only had nausea twice.
I am feeling very, very irritable...Even with my fiance.   Just feel like I want to be alone.  I left work early today just to go home and sleep.
I am thinking the extreme irritability is caused by the hormones? But boy, it is not fun feeling this way 24/7!
Thanks for listening and take care, everyone!

Re: 7 weeks today! Anyone else feel very irritable?

  • I was snapping at H a lot during the first trimester, which was quite unusual for me.  Then I'd go back and apologize.  Cut yourself some slack.  The seemingly relentless fatigue and brain fog can be pretty brutal too.  Hang in there!

  • Thank you!! That helps.  Yes,,my fiance said yesterday, 'you know..you were pretty mean to me Saturday".  I said yeah, from what I hear get used to it.  We laughed.  A few minutes after that I got completely irritated by him again for no valid reason and went to bed!
  • I reached 6wks today and I am suddenly a HOT MESS. Actually it started last night when I was on the verge of tears because my h left his clothes all over our bedroom floor. I tried to talk to him about it, he didn't respond well, and I lost it. Totally cried myself to sleep. Gahhhhh. Now tonight I'm just finding him extremely annoying. *It has begun*
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.
  • Lol, only because I know what you are all going through!

There are times I just lose it with my fiance.  And then I start to cry.  Poor guy has no idea what to do, lol.  He has been pretty awesome about the whole thing.  I think it helps that he has a buddy who is expecting a month before we are, so he is getting some tutporing on the dos and don'ts with pregnancy and hormones.

  • Yep. Totally there. I try not to be so snippy. Sometimes I'm successful. Lol.

  • Yes...DH told me he wasn't looking forward to 9 months of living with the pregnant version of me.  lol

  • LOL.  'It has begun'. You guys all gave me a good laugh!! But I feel your pain, believe me!  That is the worst when men just don't respond back to you!
Morning sickness started in full force today too.
I don't really think any of them are exactly looking forward to living with the pregnant versions of us.  ha ha! Too bad.
Jerseygirl- that is definitely a good thing your fiance has a good friend going through it at later stages-- I am sure he is getting prepped well.  Pretty soon I bet my fiance will reconnect with his friend who has had 5 kids under the age of 7 to help clue him in.

Good thing NYC is freezing in January.  I can hibernate after work and get less irritated by people.  (except those on TV, of course ;)
  • I am with you!  I find some days every little thing that DH does is irritating to me.  I try really hard to hold back, but I'm not very good at it.  Thank goodness my DH is so patient with me!  Maybe I should follow the lead of some of the ladies who said that when they get irritable they just go to bed!

  • LOL!
That is what I have been trying to do.. just go to bed when I feel that way.  Problem is, I am getting into bed now at 6:00 at night!
