Placenta Previa

Hi Mama's,
I am a STM and am 19 weeks along with a baby girl.
I recently got results back from our ultrasound that said I have a low lying placenta that is covering my cervix which is refered to as Placenta Previa.
The hope is that it will move and shift and they will recheck at my week 30 ultasound but if it doesn't then I will need to have a
c-section. At first I was terrified by the news but am a little calmer now.
Do any of you have any experience with this? Did yours move? Did you have any complications?

Thank you for listening!

Re: Placenta Previa

  • I had this with my DS, by the time they did my 36 week ultrasound, it had moved up. You may experience bleeding if you find you are doing more physically (lots of walking, working out, etc).

  • Thank you. I will look into the Previa board for sure. It's nice to hear others stories :)
  • I heard the same news at my anatomy scan. I've been told that it will more than likely move up and as long as it moves enough so that it's not covering the cervix, everything will be fine! :)
  • What? I am on this board fairly regularly and didn't know we did a check in for placenta previa. I will have to look for it too!
OP, here's hoping that they all move up :)

I was just told I have marginal placenta previa at 22 wks.  I am having an ultrasound at 28 wks to see if it has moved.  @ktbear9512 have you found the check in for placenta previa?  I would like to see how everyone with this condition has progressed.

    Good luck everyone!
  • I was told I have a low lying placenta at 18 weeks. I get rechecked today to see if it's move with the growth of our little EJ. I haven't seen anything on here prior to this either. If someone finds it, share!!
  • I was told I had complete previa at 21 weeks. Just no intercourse or high activity. I am not stressing about it, unless I see blood then I may get concerned. Just trying to take it easy, that's the best thing we can do.
  • My dr isn't re checking my low lying placenta until 28 weeks. Something like 90% resolve as the uterus grows.
  • Had my a/s on Friday and they said my placenta was a little low. They are going to check again at my next appointment (24 weeks) to be sure it has moved with growth. They didn't put me on any sort of restrictions. Doctor did say to call if I had any bleeding or consistent cramping. She said it's nothing to worry about at this point and did not seem overly concerned. She told me not to worry, which obviously is easier said than done, but I'm trying to stay calm as I know stress is not good for me or our little man. Prayers for everyone that this corrects itself and we all have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies

Did anybody find this check in board? I can't find it despite lots of searching!
  • FYI: My placenta moved up a bit, it is now considered 'partial previa' no longer 'complete' yahoo...I have another appt next week and will keep y'all posted. I have also read that it's more common than not that the placenta moves out of the way by your due date. :)
