Eating

i have many questions regarding this topic and my DD. My DD is a picky eater to the extreme and being sick makes it worse. All she really likes to eat are fruit (all kinds) chips, goldfish, crackers, lemonade, cucumbers and italian dressing. Veggies are occassional and so is pasta and cheese and yogurt but it's a definite if fruit is in it . I know she's a toddler and their eating habits range significantly but I still get concerned

1) does Ur LO eat all 3 meals plus snacks and milk?

2) roughly how much do they eat of a grilled cheese and is it pretty consistent each time?

3) if they don't eat their provided meal. Do u give other options or let them be until the next meal/ snack

4) how much does LO weigh and what's their height. My DD is 22 pounds and 32" Inches.

I definetly understand the frustration and being concerned with eating habits, I actually just had a conversation yesterday with DH in regards to this. He tried to reassure me and told me not to worry too much about LO's eating habits but I think I will just always will worry about it.

    1. DD eats 4 "meals" and 2 snacks a day but will not drink milk at all. The reason I say "meals" is because she is a grazer in my opinion and will only eat a little more then she does for snack time at a meal (even though she is offered a larger portion). We give her breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and 2nd dinner.

    2. DD just got the courage to try a grilled cheese today actually but only managed to eat about 5 bites. That's certainly not an accurate judgement of what she will eat though. For example, lunch today was 3 slices of brick cheese, a piece of toast with butter, 1/2 cup blueberries, and roasted sweet potatoes. Of that, she ate all the cheese and blueberries, 3/4 of the toast and none of the sweet potatoes. DD is very hit or miss with how much she will actually eat and it just depends a lot on factors like teething, if shes tired, distracted, if she likes what I've given her that day, etc.. but what she actually ate for lunch today was a pretty good amount for her.

    3. She is extremely picky and I pretty much know what she will and will not eat. Overall though when I give her things I know she wont eat, I will always give her things along with it that she will eat. I'm trying hard to at least expose her to new and unliked things everyday to try and broaden her food options, even if it means that the new foods are just pushed to the side or "dropped" on the floor.

    4. My DD is 22lbs (almost 23) and 32 inches.

DD is 24 lbs and 31 inches. She eats all three meals for the most part. Sometimes she doesn't. If she doesn't, I don't usually make her anything else unless she asks. Because she will. Lol. DD will eat most of a grilled cheese if not the whole thing but that's because she lovesssss cheese. But she does hate veggies. I can get green beans into her the most an I try other veggies but she objects. Also I only give her 2 cups of milk a day. One with breakfast and one with dinner. If she doesn't finish it in the am, I put it in the fridge for dinner.

I try not to stress is too much. She'll eat if she's hungry.
But I have been considering discussing a multivitamin with her ped at her next appt. Just to put my mind at ease.

    My DD loves food.....

    1) does Ur LO eat all 3 meals plus snacks and milk? Yes, she eats 3/4 meals a day. When MIL picks her up from "school" she often eats dine dinner there and then some more when we get home. She usually is better in drinking milk in the afternoon. But she doesn't drink a ton of most days, just recently seems to be drinking more.

    2) roughly how much do they eat of a grilled cheese and is it pretty consistent each time?
It's been a while since we've done grilled cheese. I've been wanting one the last few days though.... For a sandwich though, she'll eat half to all of a half of one.

    3) if they don't eat their provided meal. Do u give other options or let them be until the next meal/ snack?
I always make sure to have things I know she'll eat. She eats most things but if we're having something she doesn't typically like I still keep offering it to her. I often give extra snacks throughout the day. Usually cherrios or goldfish just out so she can get some whenever she's hungry.

    4) how much does LO weigh and what's their height.
At her last appointment, her 12 month, she weighed 24.4 lbs and was 31.5 inches. That was in October. We don't go for her 15 month until the 26th (when she's 16mo) but I don't think she had gained any weight but she's definitely gotten taller.

    1) We're bad about full meals. My LO eats snacks all day (not snack food, but small portions 5x/day). Sometimes she eats everything in sight, sometimes she barely eats the equivalent of 1 meal. I don't worry unless it's days in a row that she's not eating much. If she has a low-food day, I I usually over her a smoothie with fruit, veggie, Greek yogurt, and sometimes almond butter. She gets milk once a day or so, and water other times.

    2) She eats about half a sandwich, sometimes less, never more.

    3) It depends. I don't fill in with snack foods, but will offer something else. For ex, I won't offer her puffs, but I will over PB toast, cheese, veggies, etc.

    4) She's a little over 17.5lbs. Not sure on height.. She was 28.5" last month.

    1) does Ur LO eat all 3 meals plus snacks and milk?
She eats great at breakfast, very little at lunch, dinner can be good or bad depending on the day. She drinks about 10 oz of milk plus 1 snack a day.

    2) roughly how much do they eat of a grilled cheese and is it pretty consistent each time?
She take 3-4 bites out of sandwiches. I barely make them anymore.

    3) if they don't eat their provided meal. Do u give other options or let them be until the next meal/ snack
If she doesn't eat dinner, I'll make a waffle bc I don't want her to go to bed hungry bc then she doesn't sleep well and is up at 4am! I don't have set snack times do if DD1 is getting something to eat, I'll offer something to DD2 as well.

    4) how much does LO weigh and what's their height. 22lbs and 30 in I think but don't quote me.

Also wanna add, she used to be a great eater but now it's hit or miss so I give her a smoothie everyday with fruit, veggies and milk so I know she's getting her nutrients. I do the same for DD1.

    1) does Ur LO eat all 3 meals plus snacks and milk? He is offered 3 meals and 2 snacks a day plus he nurses 3times daily and whenever he wakes at night (2-3 more times) he is an ok eater. He would prefer to have all the milk though.
    2) roughly how much do they eat of a grilled cheese and is it pretty consistent each time? DS has allergies and cannot have grilled cheese. He eats from 1/4 to 1/2 cup meat/veggie plus a fruit at a meal. When he is hungry he will also eat a pouch.
    3) if they don't eat their provided meal. Do u give other options or let them be until the next meal/ snack. If he doesn't like dinner, I offer him food from my plate (it's the same food it just tastes better from my plate) if he still doesn't want it I let him choose a pouch or fruit cups. I don't usually have the energy to cook a different option.
    4) how much does LO weigh and what's their height. My DD is 22 pounds and 32" Inches. He is 24.5 lbs and is 31 inches.

    1. Usually yes. She's not huge on breakfast though usually just a few bites of toast and some fruit.
    2. LO isn't a fan of things inside other things and she will try to take it all apart but she will chow down on a whole cheese string or 3 big scoops of cottage cheese with some fruit and veggies on the side.
    3. I usually try another option ( just something simple, I won't actually cook up a separate meal) and if she doesn't go for that I assume that she's just not hungry.
    4. She just hit 20 lbs. Not sure about her height.

I haven't been on here for a while, but i'm so glad this post is up. I've also been worrying a lot on whether she eats enough/the right combo. @Curlingrocks - the info from the nurse is very useful to know.
    1) does Ur LO eat all 3 meals plus snacks and milk? - Yes. About 4-7 oz of milk morning and night. 3 meals (2 are at daycare) and 2 snacks (also at daycare). For meals, I'm told at daycare she eats all her breakfast and lunch and snacks but at home at dinner it's hit or miss. There will be nights where she'll devour a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs and nights where she'll take a few bites and toss the rest on the floor. She's also not liking veggies or fruit so often i sneak it in in a pouch either at lunch or dinner.

    2) roughly how much do they eat of a grilled cheese and is it pretty consistent each time? - I've only ever done grilled cheese once. We never eat it so i always forget it's an option. One time i did it she took a few bites. She prefers eating cheese by itself.

    3) if they don't eat their provided meal. Do u give other options or let them be until the next meal/ snack. If she doesn't eat the meal i usually try to "make her" eat a pouch. I've also been giving her farin-lakte for mornings when she was sick and refusing a lot of stuff. Not my best choice but my mom raised us on it and it's a good combination of calories, fat, carbs and protein (i don't like the processed nature or sugar).

    4) how much does LO weigh and what's their height. - she's about 22 lbs and almost 32 inches.
