TTC After a Loss

**IF Check In**

**Ok, lovelies, we are trying out this new check in format that was posted on the boards. This check in will be posted the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Please do NOT update the old check in after the week of the check in has gone by. If you need anything from me between check ins, please PM me. As always ladies, I am here if you need anything. ((Hugs)) and I hope y'all have a wonderful week!!**

This is the weekly check-in for TTCALers who are also dealing with infertility. If you'd like to join us please feel free to intro with your diagnosis and history. We've had a few extra challenges thrown at us, ladies. Come here for snuggles from people who get what you're dealing with.

Fill us in, along with any other updates or vents you need to get out, TTCAL or NonTTCAL related.

If you get a BFP, please PM me and let me know.  If you do not PM me I will not mention you in the check-in.  If we haven’t heard from you in a few weeks please come back in with an update; or are new and want to join please post a brief intro with your DX and current/future treatment plans and then you'll be added to next week’s check in!

**I am sorry for the lack of personal messages this week. I am working two jobs, so things are crazy at best. Please leave update on how things are. I have been thinking about all y'all.

QOTW: Do you make resolutions, and if so, did you make any this year?

  • Can I join?

I am ready to re-join the check-in world. I did participate in my monthly loss check-ins for a long time but it started to depress me because people would come and go so quickly and I always felt left behind. I have been dealing with IF for a little while now but I am just now feeling ready to join in here.

Brief history: I have been TTC for over 2 years and I have had 3 losses. The first loss was at 6 weeks and the second was at almost 10 weeks. The last one was an ovarian EP in April 2014. I had emergency surgery to remove the EP and a large cyst. I was benched for 4 months but got off the bench in August with an official Dx of IF, low progesterone, and weak ovulation. I have done 3 cycles of Clomid and TI and I am on cycle 5 after my last loss. I am in between RE's right now and having a completely crazy cycle (because that is just my luck). I am hoping that AF arrives soon but either way I will be talking to my new RE about it during my appt on January 23rd.

So that's the history in a nut shell. I am hoping that the new RE will be helpful and give me a plan.

Some extra tidbits about me and H. We will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary sometime this February but we have been together for 10 years. We like to hike and take road trips when we can. I love to bake and cook and I usually spend most of my time when I am not at work baking all sorts of things. I also enjoy vodka, raspberry flavor is my favorite, but I like it all mixed with a little juice or something. I look forward to getting to know everyone here more!
@sarcaztic10 Hey sweetie. I have been side-eyeing your chart this whole cycle. What a MF it is!! I am so sorry you are joining us, but I hope that your appointment reveals a good plan moving forward. I have weak O as well, so we have that in common. Bleh. These ladies are super wonderful and super knowledgeable. Feel free to pick our brains. Lots of ((Hugs)) lovey.

  • Hi lovies!!  Thanks for the check-in @megrae12  This is a bit of a XP from MLL check-in...

My appointment went ok last week.  It was just a speaking follow up with my doc (no exam).  At the beginning of the appointment he was like "the surgery was great!  Let's get the ball rolling with your FET"...but after we talked for a while he changed his mind.  Since my condition is so rare there isn't a specific protocol to follow.  He was worried that if I started all of the meds for the FET so soon that it might stop the healing process and cause fluid again.  So we decided to leave my on BCPs for the time being.  I have the biggest appointment to date in my TTC history on Friday January 23rd.  It will be a vaginal ultrasound to see if there is fluid in my UTE or not.  If there isn't any fluid we know the surgery was a success, if there is fluid I'm at the end of the TTC road.  So pray for no fluid on 1/23!  I HATE cycling timing with clinics!  Even if I get an all clear on 1/23 the next FET date they have is 3/23.  But I'll be jumping for joy if I do get the opportunity!!!!

For right now I'm trying to lose as much of the 20lbs I packed on since my first loss in Sept of 2013.  I'm back on weight watchers and working out as much as I can!

  • @megrae12 Thanks for the check in. How are you?

@02girl I am sorry it is such a waiting game.

@LDubHawksFan Good luck with your appointment I hope you get a good plan. Let us know.

@Km380 Hugs. The cost of IF is frustrating.

@sarcaztic10 Welcome. I hope the RE comes up with a good plan.

@Frenchteachermama  I hope you get good news on the 23rd. FX no fluid!

@GLB30 Wow! That was amazing luck. FX you get a great plan for this cycle.

AFM : 2015 started off wrong. I had the what next appointment with my RE. As I had expected all along my body hates me. She went through all of my cycles and we know I ovulate, dh has great numbers and she suspects that there is a malfunction with my fallopian tubes. Great i knew it was me...She believes ivf will be my only real option. I freaked at the financial roadblock. There were tears and talk of giving up and getting a puppy. I researched fertility loans, looking into early 401k withdraw and  then researched refinancing the house and it looks very likely we are going to refinance. We can do ivf and get some things done around the house... I feel so domestic. My husband after speaking with the RE is leaning towards testing embryos due to our age and he really fears what another miscarriage would do to me, this will help our chances. For those of you who have done ivf did you test and can I ask what information did you get. I am really stressed about the whole process. The needles, the hormones, the fear of failure. The RE is hopefull that I have responded well to medication so far. I have been instructed by the RE to try and get 10% off my body weight off in the next 2 months(this is not an insignificant amount) and would like us to start in 2 cycles. Week 1-4LBS down only 17 more to go.... if anyone has ivf suggestions or advice I am all ears.

    (((Hugs)))
All of the financial research is what I will be doing tonight and we already refinanced our mortgage.
Some great ladies here told me the anxiety of the shots and each step is worse than the step itself and that has been completely true. We did the genetic testing and it was a lot of money. But I am extremely glad we chose to, of the embryos tested the majority were not healthy. Had we just started transfers the odds would have been even more stacked against us. I'm no expert on this subject but I'll answer anything I can for you.
Oh and I'm a big believer in WW for losing weight.

Thanks for the check-in. It's CD2 here, and my H wanted a consult with the RE prior to anything more aggressive than me taking Clomid. I was kind of bummed out bc I thought there was NO way we'd be able to talk to the doctor with enough time for anything to get done this cycle. I will be out of town for a trial February/March for an 8 week trial, so after this cycle, we might have to wait until April. It's my lucky day though bc I called this AM and we have a consult at 6 pm!!! So- we should be on for this cycle with whatever plan we come up with. I hope everyone is doing well. I have been instructed by the RE to try and get 10% off my body weight off in the next 2 months(this is not an insignificant amount) and would like us to start in 2 cycles. Week 1-4LBS down only 17 more to go.... if anyone has ivf suggestions or advice I am all ears.
@rubysi So many ((Hugs)) lovey. I am so sorry you are dealing with all this stress. I can't imagine what it is you are going through. I will say that everyone here is super knowledgeable. Also, you may want to check in with the 3T board and the IF board. They may have some extra insight for you as well. Yay for the weight loss!! You are rocking that!!

  • I just realized I need to update on myself.

We are still doing natural cycles. We have to save money for IUI. It's going to be about $1,000 for it, so I am taking a part time job to help make up my salary cut. It means an extra 20/week, but getting treatment is worth it. (I hope). H is still ridiculously hopeful that we can get pg the natural way. I will just be waiting to see. Meanwhile, I have been told by a few people I should be a fertility consultant, is that even a thing?? If not, maybe I can make it one!!

QOTW: I do not make resolutions b/c I never stick with them.

All my love and ((Hugs)) ladies. Y'all are amazing!!

  • I had my IUI on Dec. 31.  DH had 62 million count after washing and good motility and mobility numbers.   I took a test this morning (12dpIUI) and it's negative.   It still sucks after all this time.  I didn't have much hope with the IUI but I thought maybe.   Sigh.   Once AF comes we'll do one more round of IUI then prep for IVF in April.

@O2girl I hope CD1 comes soon so you can start the process for your FET

@KM380 Good luck at your appointment!  FX for good, thick lining

@sarcaztic10 Welcome to the check in.  I hope the appointment with the new RE goes well!

    @frenchteachermama FX for no fluid!

@GLB30 Wow!   Lucky to get an appointment today!   I hope you get a plan in place for this cycle.

@rubysi  I'm sorry that the RE thinks IVF is your only option but at least it is an option.  I hope you are able to refinance and get the IVF taken care of and some things around the house.  I really hate needles but the anticipation and anxiety about giving myself the shots was far worse then the actual shots.   I will also say that once you get started with the IVF cycle, and start the shots,  it gets easier.  The first couple shots might suck but it does get better. We didn't have our embryos tested last time so I have no advice there.   We did go with ICSI though and I'm glad we did since even with it only 10 of 17 eggs fertilized.

@megrae12 FX for the natural cycles!  Like you, I have a part time job and the money from it goes right into our IF fund.   It sucks but it's the way to pay for it.

Hi ladies! May I join you all and get to know you better? Lately I have been feeling alone and struggling.

I am 32 and MH is 31. March is our 2 year annivsersary. We have had two losses and started seeing an RE last month. My H's SA came back with motility of 25%, my RE said he was not concerned, but I am. My bloodwork revealed I am heterozygous for MTHFR. My E2 levels came back high, so I am retesting tomorrow actually, it has me so stresed out. What if it comes back high again? I don't want bad news. Also my AMH was 1.27 my RE said it was fine, but I read that was low. So I am trying to trust him. The game plan from our meeting last week was to keep trying nautural, or move to IUI with Femara if we want. Once I get my new Cd3 bloodwork back that plan could change.
@jj32 Welcome, hun. I am so sorry you are dealing with all the stress. I know how that is. Unfortunately, working with an RE is a whole bunch of snap decisions, worrying you made the right one, and going forward anyway. It's extra crazy b/c everything needs to be decided in the moment. So many ((Hugs)). I hope your bw comes back better. Deep breaths ok? We are here for you no matter what.

I really have to say that the injections and calendar of meds really was no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be.  The teacher in me loved seeing the calendar each day and checking off what needed to be done.  I was so scared and it ended up being completely manageable.  Looks like our timing will be the same and I'm also trying to lose 20 lbs!  Down 2!

  • Hi everyone!

@megrae12‌ thanks for the check-in! Sorry you guys are still dealing with OOP costs with the IUIs. My insurance doesn't cover the procedure itself but it does cover testing and ultrasounds. The cost for my IUI OOP was about $600 a cycle. Do they cover cost of ultrasound monitoring for you? I hope it's not $1000 a cycle :(

@king26‌ I'm sorry for the BFN :( We are also doing one more IUI after this before probable IVF.

@jj32‌ I hope you get good news on your bloodwork! Nothing worse than waiting (which seems like all we do).

@O2girl‌ I hope AF gets here so you can start the Lupron and start making your way off the bench.

@Km380‌ I'll be thinking of you this month! FX for good lining.

@Frenchteachermama‌ everything crossed that there is no fluid at your next appointment!

@GLB30‌ I'm glad you were able to get such a quick appointment! Keep us updated.

@LDubHawksFan‌ yeah our great timing never makes a difference either. Hope you get a plan with your new RE soon.

@rubysi sorry for the IVF news. I hope you're able to sort out the (extremely stressful) financial side.

@sarcaztic10‌ welcome to the check-in, I hope everything goes well at your new appointment.

@Rachaeleigh‌ glad you guys have a plan. Hope everything goes well with IVF.

I'm still hanging out in the 2WW after IUI #2. 9dpiui today and temps are starting to come down. I know I'm on progesterone but AF came on 14dpo last cycle and my temps tanked without stopping the progesterone. Trigger still hanging around (what did my kidneys decide to take a break?) so hopefully tomorrow it will be finally gone then I'm not testing again until 1/16. Not feeling very hopeful. This is IUI 2/3 before potentially moving to IVF.

QOTW: I want to have more fun with MH, work on our relationship and get back to cooking and more running. But those are kind of my always resolutions.

AFM: On Thurs we had our FU with our RE post MC and we are officially on track for a FET, prob in March. I started BCPs to help suppress the endometriosis for 4-6 weeks (they also supposedly up my chances 5-10%). I have my trial transfer in two weeks and at that appt I'm going to check in about how long to stay on the pills. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can even though I know IVF is absolutely no guarantee. It does help to know that we are only working with normal embryos though. The costs are just outrageous and I'm in the same stressful boat as you ladies paying completely OOP. DH started a second job today to help with upcoming costs so that is good. I'm trying to start decreasing my caffeine and alcohol intake, but it all just makes me want to have a giant glass of wine or 3! (((hugs))) to everyone. Getting nervous as well excited to find out what's going on and take the next steps. I spent the morning writing down some questions and printing out some things to prep us for the appt. As we get diagnosis and plans of action, I hope to share them here and learn from you ladies and your experiences. :)

@megrae12‌ that is a logistical nightmare. Sorry the financial part sucks so bad. My trigger used to cost $187 but I signed up for a program with Walgreens specialty pharmacy and now it's less than $100. Small steps, right?

  • @rcvb22 I took BCP's for 6 weeks prior to my IVF cycle because of big cysts on my ovaries and suspected endo.   It really shrunk the cysts so I hope it helps with your endo!

@nikiswimr FX this is your cycle.  I'm sorry you are thinking of going on to IVF after one more IUI...hopefully you won't have too!  I don't know about your insurance but mine covers monitoring in full which is nice.  HOpefully yours will too!
