So...I saw a thing on "Toddler Approved" on FB about getting water beads, soaking them in water, and watching them grow with your LOs. Then you put them on a light table (i.e., clear storage bin with white Christmas lights inside) and play. I ordered them eons ago and they finally came. I put them in water yesterday with DS and we check on them every 30 min as they grow. DS fricking LOVES THEM!!!! He constantly pulled up his little table so he could see them. He was so excited. Then he tried to eat one and we ended up at the ER. Wtf. I was right there the whole time supervising, but he got them into his mouth *really* fast! Am I dense for thinking this was a good idea? Should I toss them or try again? I think he learned his lesson - obviously I'm still trying to learn mine...
He's fine, btw. They're nontoxic and don't expand larger than a 1/2", so they can pass through his intestine and stomach. Now we're just looking for yellow and green gelatinous poop balls. I only ask b/c he liked them so, so, so much.
=((
Re: Water beads - WM fail
I would try again. He probably learned and you can talk about this hospital experience to remind him before you get the water beads out again.
