Hopefully the full name is Ferguson? Well not hopefully, it's your kid. I don't like just Fergus. Rather go with ferguson before angus... But not a fan of either.

Considering most of the people said they associate the name to hamburgers, i wouldn't call it an "excellent" name. Even the OP is having second thoughts.

I'm in the UK, so nothing out of the ordinary for me. If you love it, use it. A bunch of strangers shouldn't change your mind

No. Fergus is a real name and a great one. Ferguson literally means "son of Fergus" and is a surname. You may want to do some research before giving your opinion on names.

Gus is an awesome nickname.

Seriously, we could find a less than desirable association with any name if we try hard enough. As long as you're giving your child a name that is real and spelled correctly, then you're doing a good job.

It's an opinion and you calling each of those names EXCELLENT is an opinion as well. Calling Gus an Awesome nickname is also your opinion. I wasn't going to research at an odd hour of the morning either. And I doubt if I researched it I would change my opinion. It is what it is.
