Has anyone tried the baking soda pee trick? If it fizzles it's a boy and if it doesn't it's a girl?

I know it's fun to be snarky every once in a while, but really? Over old wives tales?

At this point when a person doesn't know the gender of their baby some people like to use old wives tales as a funny way to make guesses about the gender of their child.

I doubt anyone swears by old wives tales such as a ring swinging a certain way, your pee changes in baking soda, you have cravings for salt or sweets, or any other old wives tale. Some people will spend 9months guessing if they are carrying a boy or a girl. What's wrong with harmless games intended to predict the unknown?

And really if you think it's that stupid just pass this thread over and read something that interests you instead.

scientifically...baking soda mixed with urine should ALWAYS fizzle because there will be an off-gassing reaction, unless your urine is super diluted and is effectively water.

When I first read this, I thought it said 'the babe hasn't got his/her pants yet'. And I was confused because fetuses don't generally have pants, unless there's something I really don't know.

@runningmommy519‌ team green is exactly why I appreciate the old wives tales. I'll do most of them and will make a board of the old wives tales and their prediction for my shower.

We plan on doing a baby pool for guesses (gender, day, date, length, weight) and thought it would be funny to include the "odds" by showing what the old wives tales say.

Lol. Fun fact: the sex of your baby is determined the second the baby is conceived. The lack of visible "his/her parts" is irrelevant.

So even though the baking soda thing isn't legit, if peeing on things for fun is your cup of tea, feel free to give it a whirl any time!
