Elevated Blood Flow results from Doppler

Went in today for a 30 week check up with my specialist for GD and come to find out that my Doppler numbers were elevated at 4.2. Any mommas out there with similar stories? I go back Monday for a check up to see if it has changed. Of course, total shock and scared and I'll I could hear was "taking her early."

Re: Elevated Blood Flow results from Doppler

  • Ultrasound? Doppler is the small hand held device used to hear heart beat. You normally can't "hear" blood flow...

Can you clarify what device gave you what result? It's hard to give you feed back because your information is confusing.

  • There is Doppler blood flow on ultrasound machines as well. That's the red/blue that is seen, which is blood flow.
  • @PrimRoseMama‌ OP is right it's a doppler u/s measuring blood flow in the umbilical arteries most likely.

Anywho, OP I had the same u/s test when I was pregnant with my twins and there was some concern after the test but they didn't really say much at the time. Mind you I was already admitted in the hospital for TTTS. One baby was receiving too much of the blood flow from the placenta and I was constantly monitored after that. Her heart rate ended up being tachycardic (sp?) from the strain of too much blood flow. I ended up having an emergency c-section with the twins born at 30w1d. Of course I was pregnant with twins with TTTS so don't take my story as what will happen to you.
