There's a goldfish swim school opening near us and I pre registered for the classes. They take babies as young as 4 months. She will probably be 5-6 months when they finally open. They have the school in a few different states.
Laying in bed hungry but I am giving DH time with LO. He needs to get more confident in his ability to soothe her. He doesn't get that she has changed and grown and her needs and comforts have changed too. Poor daddy.
Thanks! The ones here start at 6 months. He loves the bath, so I thought he'd enjoy swim classes. I think it'll be good to get him comfortable when he's young.
Just woke up to feed LO and can't breathe through my nose. DH said if I didn't feel better today, we would skip his Christmas party. I know it will be lame and I will just want to be back home, but I kind of want to go. It will be our first time out together alone and I was looking forward to it.
I don't know if infant swim classes happen at my local pool for babies, but I want to take LO swimming as like he also loves the bath so I'm excited to see him in the pool! I remember taking my nephew when he was a small baby but I can't remember how many months he was. Does anyone know if there's a certain age that they have to be? Is it once they've had their injections?
DD has had a horrible week. She is in a vicious overtired no sleep, gassy, teething cycle and I am at my wits end. Unfortunately my DH is taking the brunt of it
So yes yes yes to the baby swim lessons. DH and I were big swimmers. Since he used to lifeguard he taught swim lesson so he's going to teach DD. I told him I want to practice holding our breath in the tub instead of the community pool because :-& . I finally got DD to latch and easy it was like, midnight? So frustrating last night I just cried.
Hope all the sickies get better, just got over it myself.
Well my little horse got his horn last night. Slept for 7 hrs, woke up, ate, went immediately back to sleep, and slept for another 3 hrs. I'm so well rested I don't know what to do with myself.
It's so hard being back at work but LO smiles and kicks her legs and DD runs up yelling "mommy" and gives me the biggest hugs when I get home. It makes it all worth it.
@crawford411 did your DH also add he deserves a reward?
It is icy in Austin this morning which means I have an excuse to go nowhere. I am not going to deal with a bunch of people who can't drive in winter weather.
Lol Austin people can't even drive when it's dry! So every weekend I thingk DH will wake up and help with DS so I can sleep in but no, we've been up because the dog won't shut up, but it's to cold out to let her out. Me and DS are congested since yesterday, this winter is no fun. I would love to do baby swim with DS but can't really think about that right now it's too cold!
So I used to teach waterbabies at the Y for years. We started at 6 months. It was more about acclimatization to the water for the babies and teaching the parents how to properly hold baby in the water.
The gist of it was to either be on your knees or squatting in the water so you will be at eye level with your baby. Hold them under their armpits with your fingers makin an L shape. At this position baby will have their chin near water with feet behind them.
We also just spent a bunch of time splashing the water with hands. And for the older babies we taught them you to blow bubbles with their mouths so they can get used to water in the face.
We also spent time letting g the explore the wall/edge of the pool. The thought behind this was they would learn (once old enough) that the wall is a safe place to grab.
At the end of class we would put the babies on the edge of pool with one of the parents still holding them with the L under the armpits and practice "jumping". We never dunked babies under the water. If the bigger kids weren't scared then they would jump and you could catch them at various depths under the water. We always used counts and emphasized that they could only jump when the parent was ready.
I am about to get ready to head to a museum because it is activity day with my little buddy. I feel bad for her because the baby has made me make myself less available to her and I feel like a terrible mentor.
My just a horse baby only woke up twice last night and I watched him do something he's never done before: put himself back to sleep. He woke up an hour later but still. Progress.

That's an awesome thing you are doing! Don't feel bad, you rock!

My kid started STTN this week. Like really STTN, which translates to me STTN. I didn't want to jinx it by acknowledging it, but I think it's safe now.
I signed up for mom & baby yoga. I go back to work in about 6 weeks and realized that if I wanted to do that, now would be the time otherwise I wouldn't be able to. Those classes are in the day and I can't swing that during the work week.
I am starting to think about going to work and I am really going to miss this time. I see how MH is when he leaves and I am not going to be much better. At least I will be home with her 2 days a week. We'll have a nanny, but I'll at least be in the house with her.
DH also goes on another deployment in March (not military, it's just what they call their field missions). He'll be gone for a month, followed by another month. He leaves right when I start work again. I hope DD will be fine with all of the changes.
Totally pw this morning but I promise I will leave ya'll be for 5 hours.
I totes know why I have a unicorn now. A couple of years ago I asked dh for a unicorn for my birthday and he gave me one! It has been in lo's room his whole life and it is his life coach!
Also, got my baby a sweet onsie to wear for Mardi Gras season!!
So we had S sleep in the bassinet on the breeze last night, and the kid is 2/2 for moving on from things cold turkey! We are now swaddless and newborn bassinetless! The second one breaks my heart, but he is almost eye level to me in the breeze bassinet, so it's okay. He slept from 11 - 6am, and then from 6-9, which makes me wonder if he was hitting his arms too much on the wicker bassinet (he still had a small startle reflex) causing him to wake.
So relieved, and hope it wasn't a fluke. DH is taking S for the day so I can go to the gym and grocery shopping. Score!
Hope all the sickies are doing well - @mrssinner402 yay for no more plugged duct! @famousea he must feel so much better now sans poop! Feel better @keelyd
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
Re: //Saturday Randoms\\
I really want to bring E.
He doesn't get that she has changed and grown and her needs and comforts have changed too. Poor daddy.
@keelyd I hope you & LO feel better soon!
@keelyd I hope you & DS are feeling better very soon! You've had a lot to handle lately & sure could use a break!
@GretchenWeiners I hope your feeling well again soon!
With all this talk of babies who don't poop for days, I'm thinking...wow, I get about 4-5 poops a day. Lucky me?
I'm too cold to think about swimming.

Boo for deployment. I'm sure you and baby will be rockstars while he is away but that really does suck.
