see, I think Noemi is a lot softer whereas the A in Naomi is a bit harsh. However, this is all just rainy day talk. I'm not considering it for a name.

It is No-emmy and is a different name than Naomi. Like you, I find it to be softer that Naomi and like it better.

All that being said, and on the topic of discussion, my niece's middle name is Japanese - Naomi and pronounced Now-me.

I would pronounce it like it is in French - No-A-me - but I would put an accent on the "e" to make the distinction

To be honest, when I first looked at it I read it as Naomi because of the beginning and ending sequence then after realizing the name wasn't Naomi I guessed NO-emmy, but I see I was wrong.

This is just how i would see to pronounce it. But i looked on GOOGLE (because I see a lot of people who could get some good use out of that search engine)
Anyways you can search name pronunciation and This name is pronounce No-emmy.

No-eh-mee. I say it in French though. I don't know if this is actually true but I always thought it was the French form of Naomi. We don't have a lot of Naomis here but we do have a lot of Noemis
