So my DS is 3.5 and a pretty sweet kid for the most part. He loves to play with friends,be social etc. When it comes to sharing snacks with friends he gets very territorial. For ex. I will bring a big bag of pretzels or animal cookies somewhere and he sometimes melts down if I offer them to his friends. Today I asked him to offer some cookies to his friend and he did but then immediately got upset. Sometimes it turns to crying. Really? I explain to him that mommy bought enough to share and we have more at home, etc. but he does this quite a bit. Usually a little later when he's calm I try to talk to him about it and be rationale. Just wondering if this is pretty typical of the phase or not. Drives me crazy!
Re: DS dosent like to share snacks
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
Lol, but what ^ they said.
Yep I agree with this. DD absolutely will not share her food with other kids. Separate containers are ok though. I get it. I don't like to share my food either.
It could just be his personality, and not an age thing. Instead of taking a big bag of something that he might classify as "his" why not try taking individual snacks like fruit snacks, or granola bars? Maybe he would be ok sharing something that's not just one big item.
